One prob. and one Q with/about config.

I have a slight problem with my H-L 2 configuration.
The game doesn't seem to "remember" my preference to play with 7.1 channel audio. Everytime I quit H-L 2 and start it back up again, I have to re-enable 7.1 audio - it goes back to 2 Spkr Stereo on every restart. How can I fix this, and why won't it store that setting (everything else I choose manually, it saves) ?

I have a question about the "Instant quick-switch weapon setting" (which you can find under Keyboard --> Advanced). What does it do ? As I had figured, it would kill the need of having to press the primary fire button (mouse 1) to confirm the choice of weapon (when switching weapons with the scroll-wheel). Nothing changes when I enable-disable that option.

Quick switch should let you press 1/2/3 etc to choose weapons, and you switch to them quickly without the hud menu. Not sure how it's supposed to work the the scroll wheel though as I don't use it.

As for the 7.1 setting, i'm not sure. It must change a console var, but not save it config.cfg. If you could find out what the variable is you could put a line in your autoexec.cfg and it should remember the setting.

thay is another quick switch type of thing as well .... if you press the letter g on your keys that will do a verry quick switch to the gravity gun from the weapon you used to have , and if you press it agian you can do a verry quick switch back to the gun you was useing befor ...... comes in verry verry handy when you see the combine chuck a granade at you ,

Yeah, sounds like the best solution would be to figure out the switch to enable 7.1 audio and then save it in the autoexec.

I'll have to keep my eyes open for it...

i dident even see it in the game, i come across it by folt of pressing the wrong key lol
