*begins rant*One year ago today was the first time I had ever heard about Half-life 2. I remember it well. I was going off to band camp, and my parents thought it would be a good idea for me to go shopping for last minute stuff before hitting the road.
Well, I was shopping in a boring fasion, and something caught my eye: the june issue of PCgamer. (yes, I know, they're supposed to come a month in advance, but im slow to get these things) Anyway, I thought that I had seen gordon freeman, but I thought little of it, and turned away, then did a double take, and saw the words "HALF-LIFE 2" written on the front. I was so astonished that I jumped. I had never expected to hear or see those words in at least five years. Immediatley, I ran over to the issue (the last one) and bought it.
I read the article on HL2 over and over on the drive to band camp, soaking in the information as much as possible. When I got to band camp, which was at texas tech university, I decided that the best way to get information on HL2 was through the internet. So, I used the universities library computers (which was against the rules) to look for sites related to half-life 2. And, lo and behold, this was the first site I found. I spent all of that band camp coming to the library to read off of this very site (especially the info from valve) and my hype for half-life 2 built and built.
It's amazing how much has happened through the year. I thought that I would be playing half-life2 six months ago; but since the delay, I have become an expert on HL2 trivia. Through it all, this very community has been there. this community has kept the spirit alive for me, and I am still just as excited about half-life 2 as I was one year ago. *ends rant*
