Just imagine an all-you-can-play buffet of video games right at your fingertips. Play a collection of great games, as much as you like, for one low monthly price. Every month more games are added so you’ll never be bored or run out of new gameplay options. Spend time with an old favorite or try something new. It’s there whenever and wherever you want it.

Forget about slow downloads, trips to the store, damaged disks or wondering if you will enjoy the game. Best of all, your first month of PlayPack is absolutely FREE. The flat-rate service is just $9.99/month after that, but you can cancel anytime. Check out the full list of currently available games here.

this is what it should have been from the start. I can see this as a viable alternative to owning a console

..and I spoke too soon:

"Top-tier titles are available as individual rentals and purchases, while everything else is available at a flat rate."

so you'd have to still rent or buy recent releases. that's pretty shitty and completely changes the worthiness of the deal

Still not interested.

The thing is there just arn't enough games that I am even interested in. Its just not worth paying a monthly fee.

The service is quite good. I spied on a few games and it was pretty smooth. Playing the games wasn't so great, but it's not set up for the UK yet.

I still wouldn't buy games individually though, even if it was perfectly smooth.
