I just tried burning something with my Rosewill DVD/CD burner. The speeds are 52x32x52x16. Now when I went to burn the file, the maximum burn speed only showed up as 40x. I have 48x speed cds which would allow me to burn at 48x but it did not. Can someone help me with this problem I am having?

I tried updating the firmware and that did nothing. Do you think it is a program specific problem? I am using Ahead Nero version 5.5.10.44. Can someone help me because this is frustrating not being able to use my maximum burn speed. Thank you.

Read the manual that came with it. My CDRW has a button to boost it up to 52x burn speed when burning :)

Nope. I am a picture perfect typer. I never type anything wrong, but that is besides the point.

It did not come with a manual. I checked the makers website and nothing. I even installed Roxio 7 and it still showed 40x. Is there something I could change in the bios or what?

i read somewhere (pcpowerplay) that running it at a slower speed increases the stability of the burn. I always run mine at slightly lower than normal.

if u are using nero, there is a dialog box that allows u to change the speed of the burn. i'm not sure about other software...

he has a point about burning at lower speeds

Well, I still would like to be able to burn at 48 and at 52. 48 is a lower speed so it should still be as stable as if I am burning at 40 just it is slower. I really want to be able to burn higher. Please help.

Erm, Just check that your burner uses the 80-wire udma cable instead of the old-style 40 wire (count the wires in the ribbon).
Burners need 80 wire cables to be able to support burning at high speed. If you already have one then it's a software thing.

Does it really matter anyway? The difference between 48 and 52 is marginal. Anyone that isn't burning 500 CDs a day wouldnt notice the difference.
