What do you mean open a bsp file? Open it with Hammer or in a game? If your trying to open levels which have already been compiled, like the original maps like de_dust etc... you can't do this.

:| Damn i really need this to, ive lot my .map file and i only have the .bsp. I hope some program comes out that will convert it.

put the bsp file in maps folder?
thats what i always do...

search on google for winbspc... that program can make a .map file out of a .bsp file but don't steal anyones maps ;)

I need to open it so i can carry on making my map! :dozey:

There are ways to convert bsp to map or such, but none of them are recommended because the bsp file will not resemble your original map, you'll lose just about all of the important stuff. The nature of bsp is its simply an entirely new file, it doesn't contain the simple readable/workable parts that .map or such does. Best you can hope for is using it as a very basic template to create a new map from scratch, thats about it. Anyone using it as part of a new map is gonna find some really nasty errors, everything all triangles and well, nasty cause then those will be cut again when you recompile, so you'll have a simple map that ends up being waaaay more complicated than it should be.

Start from scratch and learn to keep incremental saves.
