What do you guys think of the new destruction maps? Should they make more maps like that?

I really like the gameplay on both but especially Colmar. Plus it's at night and snowy!

Lighting is great too.


 
their both awesome, i love the new game mode cuz its fresh in the dods world. I was a little exhausted over the same routine and im glad that they added something to give me my dods energy back. I like the minor weapon tweeks, yes minor, some people think their HUGELY different. I barely sense it but i still sense their different. I enjoy the grainy spectator view, and the new lighting system for the helmet is a nice touch. all and all, great update that will make me contrinue to play dods a crap load through the summer.
 
I know within my group of mates - the old set of maps are getting well old...

Havn't played any of the destruction maps, but i'll happily play any more new DoD:S maps
 
The film grain is cool but ultimately I'd rather it was turned off-the novelty wore off for me after a couple of rounds. Both maps look good, I haven't played detonation enough to get into it but I'm sure it'll happen. New shading on player models looks awesome, don't really see much difference with the light-warping stuff - anyone got any A/B comparison shots at all?

I just can't believe Valve do all this for free
 
The new maps are amazing. I love the destruction mode gameplay; I can't tell if I like it more than normal point cap or not, because it's so fresh.

Colmar is a solid, fun map, though I don't like the atmosphere (too cold and dark for my tastes), and Jagd is absolutely AMAZING.

Weapon balancing is a nice change, too.
 
Im glad to hear positive comments on this new update for DOD: S. I was not around last night so I did not have a chance to play, let alone download the updates.

Sounds good and I am now looking forward to playing these maps.
 
all and all good update but melee hit detection is still nonexistent
 
I got to play the Colmar map. I was a little surprised, that both sides had targets the others could blow up. I was hoping for one map to be entirely defense for the one side, and entirely offense for the other, and vice versa for the other map.

Oh well, still a neat map and type of game. Definitely like it.

Jagd is Allies defending and Axis attacking, Colmar is both sides attacking. So I guess you'll like Jagd better
 
we should have a halflife2.net match on jagd!

anyone got a server?

Really? Cool, I didn't get to play Jagd today, all the servers I went on were still on Colmar. I guess that's alright, but I would indeed like to see Jagd. Defending/Attacking always seems a bit more... interesting and such, waiting for the next attack, and the like.

Hmm to me it seems kinda...bland. Compared to the four maps that were released with DoD:S. Unless you meant gameplay-wise. It's definitely an intense map :)

Also, in case anyone didn't know, you can turn off the film gain simply by clicking Options > Advanced. I switched it to be off when I die, but on when I actually join spectators.

I take it back, it's not bland...it's something though...hmmm
 
Finally got to play Jagd. Really neat map, lots of areas to hide and such. The demolition mode and such does make the game seem a bit more pitched in battle, since usually to let a bomb go off you *have* to stay near it for a long enough time that the other side can't disarm it. The resulting street battles are therefore quite to my liking.
 
Wasnt too impressed with the actual explosion resulting in the detonation.....I somewhat expected a huge one.....poor me
 
Yea...they should really make some more explosion effects for source :\
Like...big ones...and uh...really big ones :D
 
i was expecting the explosion when the bombs go off in detonation mode, one of the 2 released trailers show it go off and a player, which seemed like he was far from the explosion, is standing as it goes off and a flower pot falls over. I was expecting a nice shockwave to work with the physics or something, it does do a big explosion i guess but way off scale of what i was expecting.

that would have been cool......I thought in CSS all the props in the map went flying?
