As the truth is revealed to the combine soldier Richard Drake, he is faced with the biggest decision of his life, continue with his life as a "keeper of order" and fullfill his duties to the combine or join the resistance in the fight to save the earth, or rather, what's left of it...

I doubt there'll be a sequel of opposing force. Perhaps a Source-version of it but not a sequel.. I'm sure there'll be a dozen of "Combine-mods" out for the game if you want to play as one of them..

Why not, and what else?
They can't just leave the HL2 world unused except for of course HL2... can they?
 
A Blue Shift 2 would be out of the question too then... Maybe something with a new character... but what?

She's probably more "action" than you think :p (no, not that kind of innuendo intended)

It'd be cool though, perhaps the expansion pack with alyx would be more sneak 'em up-focused and more puzzle-ish. Sort of like in the NOLF-games. :)

Yes. And the point was to induce discussion about possible parallel stories/games in the HL2 world.

Bah... certain features were cool, but as a game it wasn't that good. I haven't played NOLF2 though.

Nah... give me Opposing Force 2 :thumbs:

What? That's sort of the point. She's supposed to be all feisty and stuff.
I think an Alyx prequel expansion would be absolutely fantastic.
They could do the same for Barney.
But I imagine they'll probably make up new charcters - a generic resistance fighter doesn't have quite so much pizaz though.

And if you didn't like NOLF, then you're an eejit.
 
Hmm... I don't know, feisty perhaps.. but a character to build a game around.. I doubt it. A prequel could work.. but not with Alyx.. she seems too young and innocent ;) Barney on the other hand.. perhaps.

Well... we'll see.

Not a character to build a game around!? We don't know enough about her to make that assumption, and in fairness they built a game around the following:
"That'll look nice in my trophy room."
"Eeew, what's that smell?"
"Hey, catch me later I'll buy you a beer."
 
Another Opposing Force expansion would work on HL2's Opposing Force which would be the combine.. and i think they will make a combine mod, there's no way you can make all them great vehicles and environments that the combine would come into contact with and not make an expansion for it.

That's just it, we basically didn't know anything about Barney, therefore it was easy to put him in his own game.

The NPCs in HL2 will be much more complex and their persona described in a lot more detail. That is great but it also shrinks the frame in which a plausible story/game for that character would fit. If you understand what I mean... :cheers:

I think so, too. Valve has already stated there would be expansion packs focusing on various characters. It would be a great injustice if Valve left Shepard out of the HL2 universe. I'd like to see pipe wrench: source.
 
the NOLF story and game play were awsome.......Aylx would do well in that environment!!! :cheers:
 
I hope they have an OpFor2, the first was incredible. I don't want any of this combine based rubbish, we need adrian shephard coming back with the SAW.

Actually I think the opposite is applicable in Alyx's case. It's because we'll know x, y and z about her that she'll be rewarding to play as. We'll know of a certain action that had taken place before HL2's events that she'd been a part of, but then in the expansion we get to realise that event.
It's little crossovers like that that made you squeal with glee when you played through Op4 or BS - when you hear the army captain making the "Forget about Freeman..." radio comm; when you see Gordon in the teleportation chamber or on the monorail; etc.
Plus it would flesh out the background of City-17, how the world came to be the way it is and the stories of Breen, the Combine and the Resistance.

I don't understand why Sheperd's return seems like such a certainty for so many people. I don't think he will - he just doesn't seem to really have a purpose there. Even if he did, he'd lose his slight anti-hero status; one of the reasons why he was so cool.

I'd like the expansions to be parallel to the main plot, like Blue Shift and OP4 were.
A prequel would be kinda sucky, because you wouldn't have the important "Hey, there's Gordon!" moment.

Best-case scenario would be having Aidrian return, but I'd still be okay if he didn't. It would make the end of OP4 creepier if we never see him again. :eek:
 
A Blue-Shift 2 and Opposing Force 2 (with the original characters, Barney and Adrian) would be cool... But I would also like to play as the Combine, that would be fun too. Except when Gordon pwns you with physics...
 
I'd atleast like to find out what happened to Adrian Shepherd, even if it doesn't involve an expansion pack. Just a mention of him perhaps somewhere in Half Life 2.

Although, I loved playing as a Marine in Op4. I actually enjoyed Opposing Force more then Half Life.

As I said earlier; the point was to induce discussion about possible expansions/games in the HL2 world. Mission accomplished! :naughty:
 
Yeah I started Opposing Force again yesterday. And it was so much cooler than HL2 with the use of set-pieces and stuff.

Also as odd as it may sound Adrian felt more endearing to me than Gordon don't know why though.
 
Hmmmm I wonder What happen when Freeman meet Adrian Shepherd?? I wonder Valve will writy pretty story for new expansions OF HL2
