opposing force weapons

since we were discussing the opposing force aliens as a posibility for hl2, i had to go back and re-play for knaustalgia sake for the most part...i'm about half-way thru right now, and stumbled on a problem that i never could figure out when i used to play...

does the secondary fire on the alien shock gun actually do anything?? all i can get it to do is wigle around a little bit, like its supposed to do something but (having a mind of its own) really doesn't want to... any tips for getting more out of this gun?

If you would like to kill yourself, press secondary fire while you are in water.
I think there is no other use than this.

I'm pretty sure it does nothing, but it might make it recharge faster?
