Opposing Source=dead

Their site is still up. Got any proof?
 
They deleted their forums, and replaced it with a message saying "We're giving in".

Evidence enoug hfor me :)

I'd like to know why this site and many others has never posted their screen... and they'd sent it to you many times...
This project is dead for many problems but also for too little community response.

The level of quality accounts for the lack of news coverage / community response.
 
Quality level was as good as many others projects. It didn't deserve that treatment. Stop.

I don't think this site has ever posted news on any mod with that low a level of quality/progress.

Admittedly there are a lot of concept art/unskinned renders as news, but these are usually of a good quality, and OS's concept art was quite poor to tell the truth.

Thought OS = Opposing Shephard. :LOL:

Those are pretty newsworthy and I'm sure I've seen those pictures before in a news post. Maybe I went on the site once, still, I see no point in doing the originals "Sourced" without working with the Black Mesa team, a lot of the same textures, models etc.

The leader (hot324523583257832957329857 or something) was the best "wrighter" I've ever seen. Not to mention the fact most his "story" was stolen directly from Raising the Bar.

I personally consider as "pretty poor" compared to concept art from other mods, for example:

This.
This.
This.

Then there's the really awesome concept art, like this.

I know we can't all be amazing artists, but you can't expect your work to be held up to a different standard than other mods.
 
I was thinking more hand-drawn stuff, and wanted to link to more of SickJoe's NMRiH stuff, but the site seems to be down for me.

Anyway, on topic, boo hoo, OS is dead, I'll wait for the BM team to get round to making it.

EDIT: And what is D.E.A.D's concept art done in? Someone said it looks like Poser and Photoshop, but I've never heard of Poser before.

Too tired to read through all that and see how much of a poser they are. I'll take your word for it and assume they're an 100% poser and that was a really hilarious joke.

you're right, that is a really bad picture (first one) and I'm not even going to try and defend it. I like that last one, though it's not really concept art, morel ike a production painting or something like that. Like those paintings you see in the making-of star wars books.

I should be putting out more stuff like this, but I'm lazy and want to get things out quickly. so... I'm naughty.
 
Opposing Source was always in the shadow of BM:S.

i loved the marine render - much cooler than BMS'
 
The brushwork is OK on that map screenshot, but it fails to take advantage of the higher wpoly and epoly counts that Source is capable of. It's not a bad study, but it would need to be more detailed to convince me of a download. That's the problem with Mods that copy older games, and certainly one that Black Mesa Source shares neither in its work nor the ethic that guides their work. Which is why I'm looking forward to it.
 
Yes I can confirm OPS has disbanded, quite unfortunate to see a mod team fall apart :(
