—Plot—
Set in a place where no firearms are available, people ban together and make use with what they can find in order to battle and gain control over the areas, widening their territories.

—The Game—
Opposition Bust is a Half-Life 2 multiplayer mod. Two teams have a base/location which they start at. At each location there is an area for captured players (a place where you lock up your enemies). Players begin with only their hands and feet as weapons, but various objects can be picked up off the maps and be used. Teams must knock each other out, once a player has lost consciousness/feinted, they are capable of being carried or dragged back to base and get locked up. Be careful though, unconscious/feinted players don't stay in that state forever and could regain consciousness, the amount of time they are unconscious depends how serious the last blow to the head was (a wooden stick might have less effect then a steel pipe). If you get locked up, it doesn't nessassarly mean you are out of the match, your teammates are capable of coming and unlocking you (if they can manage to get past the opposing team), releasing you from enemy control. Once an entire team is locked up, the opposing team wins.

could i knock someone out, then every few seconds bash there lifeless body in the head again to insure them being un-consious?..

i like the idea of dragging people.. :0

lol.. no, I would think it be better if you couldn't do that.. but if they are fakeing it, you might be able to probably bash their head to check if they are unconsious.. but no repeatedly hitting the player while they are defenseless to prolong the effect..
 
hm.. I'd like to hear what people think of this mod.
Not too many people replying, hope none of you hate this mod, but if you do, suggestions on making it better is appreciated although most of everything has been planned out.
So yeah, feedback is wanted..

Actually I'd like nuclear bombs.. lots of nuclear bombs..
 
The idea sounds pretty cool although im not sure whether it would work. Imagine you get locked up early in the game, your just going to reconnect to the server so you can carry on playing. That way neither team will ever secure all their opposition!

The concept is good but in practice im unsure as wo whether it would work but if your definetly up for it then go for it! I'll definetly keep an eye on how it's going!

Yeah, I know what you mean. One way to probably fix this, is to make it so when a person joins they must wait till a new match starts, or until one of their teamates is rescued (maybe if 2 players are rescrued, then 2 players waiting to join can enter). If matches turn out to be too long, maybe have a time-limit until you can enter the match.
Anyways, this will have to be tested in order to be good..
Maybe someone here has a better idea..?

edit: oh, and when you are locked up, you can still move around, only your hands will be tied behind your back, so you can still kick and move, but you can't open up doors or handle objects and such.

how about when your locked up, and you can't get out, sometimes the guards bring food, kick them out of the way and run through the open door then find something sharp, use it and free your hands, find some weapons and get back to the game?

Well, there won't be any npcs for guards or anything..
but you pretty much have the right idea..
Teams will have to bring the unconsious player back to a specific spot like where the rope or whatever is inside some area where they can't get out.. assuming a player has just tied up some unconsious player, when the player regains consiousness, the player can wait for the door or entrance to open in order to try and make an escape.. The door will eventually open again because the opposing team might bring back some more unconsious teamates, or maybe one of you teamates comes to rescue you.. and if you do manage to escape by yourself, teamates who aren't tied up can unbind your hands anywhere on the map..

I disagree with your statement that it would be slow, but if it is, why would that be considered a bad thing, If it is fun to play then people wont care if its "slow". :rolleyes:
 
This mod is reminiscent of Jailbreak (Quake II version), with a few twists. At times, the gameplay tended to be a bit slower than other mods; however, it was still a very enjoyable game. When you were "in jail," you could find ways to break out using teamwork (i.e. "stacking" players in the cell to reach a vent, which might lead to a room with a switch that can be used to release all the other players in the cell). Have you thought about implementing something along those lines?

hm..
well, a player has to physically drag an unconsious player into the room holding all the captured people, and those people basically just have their hands tied up, so when they see the door open or whatever it is, they can make a run for it, but they would be at a disadvantage with their hands tied.

maybe I can write a possible story passage thing of what it could be like..

..There are no teamates around as you drag your victem towards the room where you plan to tie him up, you assume your teamates are on guard protecting the area from invasion. As you reach the locked door you hear movement inside, some prisoners are up and moveing around inside. You grab the unconsious enemy at your side and hoist him up on your shoulder and then reach for the door knob and fling it open.
You make your way into the room, 2 players across the room from the opposing team have their hands tied up behind their backs as they make a run for you. You take the body on your shoulder and toss it at them knocking them backwards. At that moment, you get forced to the left and into a wall, another prisoner had came from the right and kicked you. You take out your steel pipe and as the prisoner lunges forward you take a swing to his head, but he ducks and the pipe crashes against the wall next to him near the door.
You see one of the other 2 prisoners dash out the doorway as you land a heavy blow to the top of the crouched enemy makeing him unconsious.
You begin to turn to fight the remaining enemy, but as you do, your pipe gets kicked from your hands causeing it to go flying across the room. The enemy attempts another kick but you block it with your arms. You then carry out some punches to the defenseless upperbody of the enemy and end up knocking him out after a few hard blows..
You tie up the original player you had thrown and then exit and lock the door, and continue on to find the one who had escaped.
 
This Mod Sounds Alot Like JailBreak for UT...

and they are currently in the making of a version for UT2K3 and UT2K4, called JAILBREAK2K3

Yeah, but I'm still partial to the Quake II version for nostalgic reasons. :cheese:
 
yeah, the goal in the games sound similar, but the gameplay is very different..
