Hey everyone, this semester in college im taking Technical Communications, and at the end of the semester I have to present the class with Visuals and a 10 minute oral report on any topic, I just cant come up with one I like and one that would be interesting.

I know most of you guys here have similar taste in likes and dislikes, and throw around some serious ideas if you would, I appreciate it!

MORSE CODE!

I dont understand what Technical Communications would be \=

Its just bascially teaching us how to properly talk in front of people and keep their attention, while giving them information.

Can it be ANYTHING? or something related?

Anything as long as I can do it, it can be visually and orally presented (I need to write a report) before the class.

Easy, Half-Life 2.

But what about it, I have to present it to the class and also write a report about it. I wish I could make maps or something in Source, would be easier to show people.

every year i had to present, in front of the grade, a 5 minute speech i had to have memorized, and the school had extemporaneous speeches where, in front of the whole school, at random you would be given 2 minutes to prepare a 5 minute speech on a topic of their (the teachers) choosing.

10 minutes on anything is easy. I wish i had a project like that, because i just rock essays that are purely opinion, like the death sentence, or are suvs necessary, and such. To be quite honest i would do the SUV thing, because it's so easy. Basically, work off how people buy a car that does NOTHING well, because it's a status symbol.

Do something educational, how a car engine works, or give the history of the A-bomb, i mean hell, it's an endless list really. Go nuts i say.

Why not do it on,

Why Liberal>Conservative

Or on something nonone knows about, like the mating ritual of a Lama.

Or the history of 1337 sp3k.

Or Star Treck.

Pretty good idea, I did a report in HS on the A-Bomb, maybe ill dig up some info and update it. Thanks for the input.

Dont stop throwing around ideas though lol

How about a report on choosing the right topic in speeches? :O

I once did an oral report on the stigma surrounding video games in society. I explored:

-The link (or lack thereof) between violence and games
-Their practical side (therapy/military strategy)
-Personal responsibility (don't bitch at Rockstar when a 14 year old shoots up a highway, especially when the gave is for MATURE AUDIENCES)
-The growing industry and its acceptance (Excuse me? What? Microsoft is wasting its time and money?)
-The conception that games are for children
-The double standard regarding violence and nudity in games and movies
-Etc.

I got full marks on it and I completed it in one afternoon. Just choose something you're passionate about and things should be a breeze.

You need to know lots about your subject as well as the bit about being passionate. :E

Doh! Now when i finally had managed to forget when I had to speech in front of the class for 45 mins. Realy bad memories *cries*

Metallica-easy, well for me anyway

the games in society seems pretty good though

I would hope that said passion would give way to knowledge about the subject. :\

Good point though. "This argument is flawed because of such and such" is better than "JACK THOMPSON IS A ****ING A-HOLE AND HIS MOTHER TURNS TRICKS BEHIND THE 7/11".

Oral ey :naughty:

I actually mentioned Metallica in my oral presentation. It was a presentation about P2P File Sharing as it happens.

The History and Stigma of a Motorcycle.
Explore the history of a motorcycle, starting from a simple engine mounted on a bicycle to the Superbikes and Motocross ones of today and explore the (coolness) factor surrounding thier use.

Vaccum Cleaners. (I actually did this one, something i was passionate about)

My friend did a presentation on defending yourself against a bully, one of the funniest things to happen in that class.
