PC gamers not fond of Steam and unwilling to purchase the Orange Box appear to be in luck. Speaking during a conference call to investors EA has revealed that the new titles previously packaged inside the Orange Box are to be released as separate titles at retail in the next few months.

Portal, Team Fortress 2 and Half-Life 2: Episode 2 are all expected to be available in stores for PC before the end of March. No pricing details were announced, although expect them to be inline with current Steam prices: Portal $19.95, TF2 $29.95 and HL2 Ep2 $29.95.

News... not good news, not bad. Just news.

May interest some.

Why someone wouldn't want all three of those games I have no idea, but there are definately the TF fans that just want TF2...or those who don't care about anything but the new HL2 episode. :/

Good news for some. Mneh for others. I doubt sales will increase. It'd be kind've like the PSone sales of HL :p

I bought the Orange Box and loved it ... but I never really touched TF2. Granted I would still rather just get the complete pack because there's probably only going to be a marginal cost difference between buying the two games I want and just getting all three.

Play TF2, very addicting.

Doubt that many stores want to dedicate shelf space to three games instead of two.

I kind of feel ripped off at having to pay five dollars more than any other game in order to get The Orange Box, especially considering that I own two of the other games in it already. Still, I get the impression that it'll be way more expensive to buy them individually than in a package.

Half Life 2 and Episode One were free.

^True. TF2 was a full game, 20$ at least. Portal was worth 10$ IMO (too short) and Episode 2 another 20$ like Episode 1.

(Am I putting the dollar sign on the wrong side of the figure?)

$60 more expensive. That doesn't include VAT.

No it wasn't, it was baked into the price. The former Black box did not contain HL2 and Ep.1 and was cheaper than the Orange Box today.

Yes you are.

Orange Box was ridiculous value awesome and I have no idea why you would not get the pack.

Why? They couldn't have the Black Box pack because of shelf concerns? Why are they splitting it into three packages?

This deal makes no sense.

Shelf space is a lot more valuable around Christmas. It's probably not as much of an issue now as it was a month ago.
