Orange Box not installing

Trying to install the OB and Steam has been telling me that it's
Preparing Half-Life 2: Episode Two files for install
for at least an hour. The loading bar is full and there isn't any noise coming from the disc drive. This is a real pain in the ass because I'm on dial-up and apparantly I have to be connected to the interent to install all this.

you only install the gcfs off of the orange box cd. when you are on steam then it needs to install the folder for all of the configs,certain scripts and stuff. so dont worry about it and just wait.

If I'm online the bar just goes to full and nothing happens. I've discovered that if I now go offline then it will install the whole of the first disc, and then most of the second disc, before it tells me that the Steam servers are too busy and shuts down. I'm screwed either way. According to Steam I have 82% of the game on the computer now, I just can't get that last bit D=
