Last night I did something daring and miraculous, I bought about 8 dollars worth of organic food. My mission was to make some completely organic chicken parmigiana to see if this dish would taste better using organic ingredients opposed to highly processed ingredients.

I got organic traditional herb sauce.
Organic chicken (????)
100% Multigrain Rotini
Italian Bread Crumbs
and Mozarella

Wow man, let me tell you my tastebuds had multiple orgasms, and the food tasted alot richer imho surprassed the best restaurant parmigiana ive had in my life time?

So my advice go organic! Even if it is a little more expensive I think its healthier and your tastebuds will like the food :D

I also got some Kashi Organic Cereal which also taste much better than the pure sugar laden cereal. The cereal actually tastes capable of being a complete breakfast meal and fills you up. The cereal is also high in fiber which is a plus. ;)

Is anyone else here organic, or have some weird diet tell me this whole organic thing is interesting.

organic food?

isnt it like real food and not processed one?

To a point yes.
wiki
Organic food is produced according to legally regulated standards. For crops, it means they were grown without the use of conventional pesticides, artificial fertilizers or sewage sludge, and that they were processed without ionizing radiation or food additives. For animals, it means they were reared without the routine use of antibiotics and without the use of growth hormones. Also, at all levels, organic food is produced without the use of genetically modified organisms.[1]

so that means that procesed food is the most consumed kind of food?

Yes, if you are unsure if your food you eat is organic or processed, I guarantee you, that you are eating processed.

I myself have never had organic, but supposedly its very very good.

Don't know if the local markets here sell fully organic foods, but I know it tastes a helluva lot better when the food is supplied fresh (fish jumping around, crabs trying to chop your fingers off, etc.), I can taste it whenever my mom or uncle decides to cook us a meal. :)

here are markets where you can buy fresh vegetables whit even the dirt on it,people selling living chickens that kill in the same spot,in the usa you hav markets like those?

Don't they also have to be grown locally to qualify as organic?

Yes, i thoughroughly recomend organic food.

I could provide loads of reasons why but i think you should trust me.

I certainly trust you, despite much recent press down-playing Organic food

Though to be honest, it is well overpriced, over 3 quid for a box of Organic grapes! :O

Maybe, the way I see it is if you just stockup on organic food from a wholesaler or just don't buy fastfood the cost will be just about the same.

ALL food is organic wtf

I certainly hope you're not eating crayons and metal.

Organic food has been the norm here for nearly a decade now. It's infinitely better.

Grow your food in your backyard. Will be cheaper.

No it hasn't, what are you talking about? Its common to find an organic version of many foods in the supermarket, but its still the minority, let alone the norm.

When I said "the norm here", I meant in my household... :hmph:

When man plays god, bad things happen. Even something as simple as penicillin has spawned a breed of mutant antibiotic-resistant superbugs that could and probably will wipe us all out.

I think tampering with the genes of the shit we eat is ultimately going to give them nasty unexpected side effects, or spawn a breed of mutant human-resistant vegetables.

Don't say I didn't warn you.

btw, there is no scientific proof that organic food is nutritionally 'better' or better tasting than conventionally grown foods. The same goes for genetically modified food. The farming methods for growing organic foods my be environmentally friendlier, but this comes at the cost of having a more expensive vegetable or fruit. As far as taste, it really depends on wether or not you're a good cook. So those of you who say it's healthier, do some research.

Organic food only tastes so much better because you think it will.

Unless you change the way you cook it.

Its all a trick!

Truth.

I love the concept of Organic Food. "Food thats natural, without nasty modern inteference!". Garbage IMO, I'd much rather have food thats been produced locally, and sold at markets or butchers shops. Thats where you'll find quality, not in a supermarket where the product has taken a week to reach the shelf.

I don't think the above reasoning is applicable to the US market though, particularly with regard to growth hormones.

As for genetic modification, I couldn't give a stuff. It could be a way to pull Africa up from the gutter.

Oh, and you should try unpasterised 'straight from the cow' milk some time. It'll knock your socks off.
