Does anyone know any good oriental music bands or ensembles that attempt to come close to the Asian cultures?
The only real details I can give is that they use some form of stringed instrument and play some forms of pentatonic scales (major or minor, not sure).
Here's an example:

About 3:30-4:30 you can listen to what I'm talking about, although the song is moderately Westernized.
Whenever I listen to that song I imagine an epic battle between Samurais and warriors with katanas and stuff. Something like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (though I haven't watched this movie in years and don't quite remember the soundtrack).
So anyway, yeah. I think it's either Japanese or Chinese music, or something from around those places. I don't think they use the Western 12 semitone configuration, either.
