I just put together my new computer yesturday. We worked on it for a while, and then turned it on. "It's aaallliiivveee!!", i thought. But noo.

For some reason, when we try to install Windows XP, it won't detect the hard drive. The hard drive is detected in BIOS, but when trying to install the OS it says that there is no hard drive. I have an Abit Kn-8 Ultra motherboard and a SATA 3/RAID hard drive.

We tried a bunch of different things, but it didn't work. What "we" tried, i don't know. Because i know nothing about BIOS and installing computers. One thing i remember is using the Abit RAID floppy disk that came with the motherboard. But that was useless. One problem might be that we tried to install Windows XP Service Pack 1. Maybe RAID drives only work with Service Pack 2?

Shit way to spend a friday night.

When you're installing Windows XP, at some point you'll see on the bottom of the screen about pressing F6 to install SCSI drivers, or something like that. Press F6 and insert your Abit RAID floppy disk.
