The change in question, an unlockable called 'Overhealer', would have let Medics double the maximum health of their allies instead of being able to give them invincibility-empowering Ubercharges. Now though, according to a post on the Steam forums, the planned unlockables have been scrapped.

So it looks like that through playtesting that the overhealer wasn't such a good thing. Probably true seeing as heavies would have so much health they'd be unstopable.

Wonder what they'll replace the overhealer with?

That's a shame - it'd be nice to have an option other than turtling up and building ubers. Maybe reduce the amount it overheals, or put a cap so heavies aren't indestructible?

Big shame...

I liked the Overhealer, it looked like a modified Medigun, with two nozels instead of one. It would make the Medic a much more formidable class, with them healing heavies to up to 600 health!!

If the overhealer is scrapped, then what will come of the new achievements?

Well the achievements will probably still be on the way, but the overhealer won't be. They'll probably make a different unlock for the medic and release that with the new achievements.

This was declared a couple of weeks back, actually. And the article is overly skeptical. There are many ways for an overhealer to work correctly in-game.

really? first time I've heard of it.

The flip-side to double-health heavies would be that snipers and spies could still 1-shot them. Without an uber, the current heavy/medic busters would be even more effective.

Overhealer could just has easily been scrapped for underpoweredness in specific situations.

The other medigun variant is a double-barreled one able to heal two targets at the same time (mouse1 mouse2) with a probable lack of uber

I didn't target two friendlies, it targetted one but gave them double health.

And this was the first I had heard of it, didn't see any threads about it so posted it :p

I'd rather heal multiple people simultaneously, if theres more then one person is on fire, and not having to choose who to save anymore.

Just wondering how such a control scheme would work, maybe right click attaches second beam to second person instead of activating the charge?

Just have another gun that drains health away from enemies in the same way you have a gun that heals teammates. If you want a flip-side to the health sucker, then have it drain your uber capabilities.

Which is why I clearly meant the other one

Valve did say they had 2 new mediguns on their mind a while ago.

that would be sort of cool actually, but I bet having like 5 medics run around would be REALLY powerful. So maybe you could have it set so only 1 or 2 medics could attack a single enemy at one time.

Just give us new maps and map types. The basic mechanics are fine as they are.
