I didn´t know Ellen was the voice actress for the overwatch in Halo too!

To be fair to Ellen, she was far less connected to her role in Half-Life 2 when you compare it to her later work with Portal 1/2, Dota 2 and Team Fortress 2. I imagine, with Half-Life 2 at least, it was just a job role reading out generic announcer lines for an emotionless AI, its pretty likely that she was never given any context or background about the Overwatch, besides the name. Hell, I'm pretty sure she appeared in an interview a few years ago where she mentioned how her character in Half-Life 2 is supposed to help the player by giving them advice and directions, which as we all know is the exact opposite of the truth. When you also consider that Half-Life 2 was her first video game voice role, its quite likely that she didn't really care all that much at the time, but has since come to appreciate video games and the work that goes into them a lot more.

In Dota 2/TF2/Portal, she voices characters with actual personalities, quirks and characterisation, so she would've been able to get far more involved and interested with the work she was doing.

Hmm. Didnt really know all that. I didnt know she is in TF2. Whats her role? I couldnt really google it as all that pops up right now is that HL3 non-confirmation by her husband.
