As far as planning disputes go, it is a far cry from letters of complaint to the council over an unsightly conservatory.

After a row with developers, this family's home has been left perched 12m (40ft) up on its own concrete island.

It all started when they refused to accept compensation to move and, while the row rumbled on, the bulldozers excavated the site around them.

WTF? What kind of council would do that? (with all due respect, this is pretty funny)
 
rofl...that's quite hilarious. Poor people, though....gotta suck being there.
 
Truly owned. Good plan on the councils part as well, they pretty much HAVE to accept defeat now.
 
I thought that the story was moderatly funny. Then I saw the photo and laughed my ass off.
 
I wonder what the property value is now.

lol, now they can just replace their stairs with a rope ladder!


EDIT: Also, does anyone remember that car commercial where something like this happened, and the guy base jumps off his cliff to his car?

Yes. I was hoping his parachute would fail to deploy and he would fall through the roof of the car, with text saying "Got milk?" showing up at the bottom.

thats awsome tehy now have a castle and when it rains tehy got a free moat!
 
I hope it a volcano erupts somewhere and lava fills the area around it.

Would make a great premise for a reality show where we wait to see if anyone jumps into the fiery pits. OF LAVA! D:
