Page Cannot Be Displayed?!

Hello.

I have just installed HL2 and connected to Steam. When I click on HL2 to play it I get taken to the dreaded 'Page cannot be displayed' message.

I know theres no probs with my internet conection adn that I am not behind a firewall.

Ive had a look through various threads to find someone iwth the same problem but have not been able to locate one (sorry if ive reposted a thread)

I have this same problem! I want to buy halflife 2. I only get page cannot be displayed. I called my friend and he has got the same problem!!!!

It's because the steam servers are being raped to death (nasty way to go, eh?) so the pages are either timing out or just not being found.

So theoreticaly, if Id go out and would buy the retail version, I cannot activate it???

Well according to the steampowered forums people are having problems authenticating/activating too..... I had no problems myself though. But this was midnight on the release and there actually weren't as many people trying at that point compared to later on.
