I think Overdose was a total conversion of the game that got picked up by devs because it was really promising.

Very wrong.

I think it uses its own engine with some Havok thrown in.

LOL, yeah. I liked the original Painkiller but this was just meh...

painkiller was so boring and there isnt even a plot really. i mean even serious sam 2 had a plot but that was fun as hell.

Yep... since this isn't actually an entirely new game, it's just an expansion pack made by some other team, not the original producers.

There is a thin plot just like there was in Serious Sam, not that it matters much. However I liked Painkiller more than Serious Sam.

I thought Battle out of Hell was an awesome sequel to the first. I'm only on the beginning of the second level of Overdose now. I'm so glad they didn't try to write an entirely new engine for this - the Painkiller engine isn't 'cutting edge', but it still rocks in my opinion. No bugs, it scales really well, fun physics, and it looks okay too. I don't like the protagonist's one-liners though.

I played and beat painkiller, but I cant remember anything about it, so I guess I found it pretty meh
