Hey I am just starting modeling and now I am trying to create a beach. I use some of the paint alpha to make for example the wet sand(I use it on other things as well) This option always worked. In the previous maps(tests) it also worked ingame. But the current situation is that In hammer it still works great but when i compile my map and I run it I see just plain texture. All my Alpha paintings are gone

Thanks

Check your compile log for entries about deleting triangles. It could well be that you've made the displacement map too detailed to be rendered by source (ie polygons getting too small), and so the compiler is combining faces and gobbling up the bits with edited alpha on them.

At a guess, you could try reducing the displacement level, or making the area with the changes in alpha take up a decent proportion of the brush and then see how it goes.

at first Thanks for your reply

The brushes are big enough I am almost certain of that, when I use smaller brushers it worked in other maps, but I will try that aswell. When I am home I compile an old map of me again and run it, maybe it still works there. Then I know if it's an compiler problem or if it's in my map.

It didn't worked for me, but thanks anyway. Anyone any ideas?

I have the same problem, anyone fixed this? It looks fine in Hammer but not ingame.

you need to run RAD otherwise they wont appear in game.

So yeah, sorry but no more fullbright maps if you wanna use blended textures :p

Cheers for the help, Rad is run by default when I compile. It was the fullbright that was the problem.

im having this problem, what is FULLBRIGHT and how do i fix it???

Everytime I connect to a server that hasn't run RAD, I feel like plucking out my eyeballs. The modding world would be a better place if thick-skulled new mappers would just listen.

Fullbright is where the map is rendered with equal lighting, and is pretty bright (and ugly).

mat_fullbright 1/0 in console

Ohhh, so that's why my blended textures weren't blending.

Who runs RAD on a simple testmap anyway... :x
