Hey guys,
I need to find out what the song, Piant it Black by the Rolling Stones, means. What i mean is what the lyrics really mean besides painting everything black, thanks.

Code:
I see a red door and I want it painted black
No colors anymore, I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes

I see a line of cars and they're all painted black
With flowers and my love, both never to come back
I see people turn their heads and quickly look away
Like a newborn baby it just happens ev'ry day

I look inside myself and see my heart is black
I see my red door and I must have it painted black
Maybe then I'll fade away and not have to face the facts
It's not easy facing up when your whole world is black

No more will my green sea go turn a deeper blue
I could not forsee this thing happening to you
If I look hard enough into the setting sun
My love will laugh with me before the morning comes

I see a red door and I want it painted black
No colors anymore I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes

Hmm, hmm, hmm...

I wanna see your face painted black, black as night, black as coal
I wanna see the sun, blotted out from the sky.
I wanna see it painted, painted, painted, painted black, yeah !

somthing about underlying pain in things that would otherwise be enjoyable... could possibly from when they were doing acid and not really mean anything :naughty:

lmao. Yah im pretty shure i am. But some ppl are saying that it has stuff to do with veitnam and some say it has to do with Elvis. Im choosoing the elvis one because i found a lot of info on that

the traditional interpretation is that it has to do with a dead girlfriend. the second stanza is pretty telling:

I see a line of cars and they're all painted black -- (a funeral procession)
With flowers (on the casket) and my love, both never to come back (.. dead..)
I see people turn their heads and quickly look away (cuz she's dead damnit!)
Like a newborn baby it just happens ev'ry day (.. that is, death, like birth, happens everyday..)

all of the imagery about painting things black could be essetianlly the author's inner-rage and wanted external action over his beloved's death.. the feeling of pain/emptiness/darkness (blackness) the author has inside needs to be manifested (i.e by 'painting things black') in order to get some sort of personal release, even to the extent of complete annihilation of his world (wanting to see the sun blotted out from the sky).

also note the girls that "walk by dressed in their summer clothes" and how he has to "turn my head until my darkness goes", probably because they remind him of what he has lost.

i read somewhere that it's supposed to be about a dead gf, but all that analysis-type shit i just made up on the spot, so don't quote me on that.
