Went Paintballing for the first time today and it was awesome fun
I'm taking an interest into making it a regular hobby of mine now, so are
there any other paintball fans around that could give me some advice on
the kind of equipment I should invest in and any links to good paintballing
sites would be of great help too!

I've tried it once, i think i'll stick with airsoft.

When i played paintball i used my "stealth about and waste little ammo" approach i use in airsoft.......it dosn't work in paintball.

Anyway i got shot in the spanner and bag of nuts once and that was enough.

Yeah I was so paranoid about getting shot in the crown jewels so I stuck my beanie down there for protection. You can never be too safe!

In paintball you have to sneak up on people and then open up with a large volume of fire, and when being shot at you have to simply take cover and wait. That's the general strategy that works well for me. I used to play it all the time with friends in the woods. We don't even care about camo; it's mostly useless in paintball (only total noobs don't see people coming). I usually wear a t-shirt (doesn't matter what color), long slacks, and the mask. I hardly ever get shot anyways (even tho I tag a lot of people).

Yeah my team was doing this alot today, we would advance pretty far out, scatter and just wait for the other team to waste their ammo. Didn't take them long either, as it was a whole team of chavs- so bloody funny watching them stand in large groups, cigarettes in hand, cursing and threatening to "**** yer up mate" everytime they got hit.

Ended up with us winning 3-0 in the end... glorious :D

I'd sometimes just play for fun with my buddies, rental gear and all. Most of the time it was just go forward until you get shot at then shoot at where you think the other team is until you hit someone. But one game we actually did get strategy to work and it worked beautifully.

We had this objective to attack a defended position up on a hill with some paths up to it and a stream on one side. So we had 5 guys go up the front being very obvious, and 3 guys circle around and sneak up the back side. I was up front and we actuallly used, supress, move, flank tactics. When we came up to a defended position with a little wooden bunker, it actually worked like a charm. One group shot while the other one flanked, then the next team gave cover and we would move. After taking out about 2 defended positions like this, the other team had shifted everyone to the side where we were attacking from and our 3 flanking guys came up and shot them all in the back.

The thing with air soft is that it doesnt hurt as much as pb does. Paintballig hurts alot, makes it more realistic and intense :D

lol paintball only hurts if you get shot

I've been playing for a few years and have two markers. It is a great game to go out for the whole day and play with a bunch of friends.

I just don't understand in Airsoft, how the hell do you know when the other guy gets shot ?

It requires honesty, which is why airsoft sucks with 99% of people.

When played with honest people it's amazing.

They should make a commercial version of military laser training units.
I'm sure you could make a unit for £200, a lot of airsoft guns and paintball markers cost more than that so it would be fair enough.

Absolutley no cheating then (well except if they wear a sequin shirt over the unit) when i played paintball there was still quite a few people who either ignored a hit (mabye didn't feel it with adrenaline?) or they actually wiped the paint off, too many refs gets annoying as well.

Went paintballing the other day, it was quality as usual. Got a few bruises still, one on the inside of my left leg, too close for my liking. My legs were really fooked after it from all the crouching and running etc, but its awesome. I think SHIPPI is a huge fan of it, as in...shes been probably hundreds of times.

I use to play paintball but then somehow I just ran out of time to do it.
It really sucks when you get shot in the the face mask where the vents are and you breath in pain. Happend to me more that one time.

This one time we played capture the flag paintball in a construction site (across the street from some upper-class houses). It was awesome fun. Luckily we went back to playing in the woods by the time the cops came, so we didn't get in trouble. lol

Ive played once at a business summer fest thing. First two matches I was very confused and didnt really do much before I got shot. The third I used my CS "training" and got behind the other team shot 3 but got shot by a teammate (one of the two firm owners, who is female!) before I could take out the rest. Very intense fight though.

The last big fight we where like 15 on eighter side and I took out 6 of them before the match ended.

Final proof that CS is good for you ;o)

I'd suggest signing up there, and if you want (Doesn't really matter to me) at the reference number (Or member number, probably at the bottom of the signup page) and put 36333.

Aye, been paintballing twice now, was extremely good fun. However i busted my leg and kept slipping over in the mud (was pissing it down the night before lol) but that didn't stop me making suicidal runs with their barrel and getting shot 5 times after the whistle, and with a bit of ff from me here and there we ended up winning pretty much. However they thought the teams were unfair so they "auto team balanced" us onto the losing team, but we still see ourselves as winners as we spent the past 9 rounds on it lol :P

I like airsofting because I can play pretty much wherever I want as long as cops dont mind. In the wetlands near my house. I got 11 kills last Saturday! 6 were in one round! Has nothing to do with paintballing... But if you just want something fun and like to play scenarios play airsoft. If you want something competive with tournaments and stuff play paintball.
