What does this mean? It can't be ... for free... ?

I got procreate painter classic with my wacom Graphire 3, and I just plain don't like/get it, but maybe the "real" painter versions are different?

Anyone feel like clueing me in?

Probably a trade in. Though they'll be trying it to get people to buy PainterIX by upgrading those with the cutdown versions to wet their appetite.

Anyway PainterIX is much better than Painter8. brushes are far quicker.. and get this.. the UI works better! one more version and they might finally have something that comes remotely close to Photoshop's

Hmm... Thanks for the reply..

I definitely thought you used Painter before, did I misunderstand?
Or do you use it even with the worse interface?

I find it hard to pick good colors with Photoshop, I really like the way you do it in painter. :)

I definitely hope this is free, that would be great!

Been using it since v5, didn't like it much until v7/v8, and now I really like it at v9

Has the new version still got limitations with exporting? that's the only reason I use PS more

regular file formats for saving, doesn't seem any changes there. Export to Adobe Illustrator.

The version I use won't export transparent layers :s

Save to .psd. I've never had any problems moving back and forth to photoshop with layers using transparency.

Just watch for using special PS or Painter features which could be whats messing it up for you when you export.

Oh and so far it "seems" more stable.. and whats even better.. With v8, a few minutes of running that app even idle would send the cpu temp as far as it could go.. IX has as much effect on cpu temp as photoshop (barely anything while idle) which is good, I can fall asleep while painting and not worry about a burnt out cpu the next morning :p

killer apps :O
Most of the summer I can't even run Painter 8 because of it (or render much, especially radiosity calculations) even with all the fans running. would really annoy me.. But on the plus side I taught myself some nifty tricks in Photoshop while I was waiting for it to get super cold again :)

Oh and IX works with Intuos3's new features properly, namely the zoom/touch strip setup if you use it in that way.. no more zooming from 100% to 439722% in a split second like in v8 when using the touch strip to zoom in and out, which is nice heh.

Oh and Brush Tracking seems to work better this time around, not so much a case of guesswork now.

And there's a couple of actually _useful_ scripts with it too, not just lame pretty pictures done by random people, looks like they actually contacted an artist or two this time :p

hmm.
*considers buying it*

hmmmmmmm.
*considers sticking it on xmas list instead*

There was another cool thing this one did, but i forgot it now, so you'll just have to buy it :)

Edit:
Oh wait, thats it. Can use v8 brushes in it without them screwing up, they work fine and with the improvements.
