I was scrimming yesterday and my mom decided to have a damn hissy fit with me right in the middle of it. She started yelling her ass off that if I wouldn't turn off my comp right then she would ground me for a week. My dad then walks into my room and says I'm grounded for a month. I'm telling my damn clan that I gotta go and they are all bitching and right when I'm leaving the game my dads pulls out my computer cables. WTF?

My observation is that parents are sneaky individuals who can't wait until you are ACTUALLY doing something rather important and not stupid to start making up things to scream at you about.
The whole damn reason they got pissed off at me was because my sound was on too loud..... :|

It will never change.

Move out as soon as possible

Get them to help pay for school first, so you can buy houses and cars instead of renting, and calling in sick to McDonalds so you can play games

Do what I did...and fight your parents.

They won't mess with you anymore.

Why does it make me stupid because I play scrims? And buy houses and cars instead of renting?

Looks like I'm not the only one,I got my computer cable pulled out right in the middle of a clan match......
Worse,it is 12:00 midnight now,my mom brough like 3 guests to our house, how the damn hell am I suppose to sleep?

People are only going to either insult you or your parents in this thread. :|

My parents could never ground me..i would just walk out anyway with my middlefinger in the air...

wow, ...I hope my son never feels the way some of you do

If he's 15 at any point in his life then there's more than a passing chance he will be.

I hope for your sake and his that he does turn 15, at least. If you see what I mean.

My brother is 15, what a bastard. Im perfect, I never went through that stage mainly because it seemed like too much effort at the time :P

Aaah, teenage apahty :) Do you know no bounds?
And then you hit young adult apathy... If you're lucky it's a state of semi-consciousness that lasts you for decades.

Parents can be very spontaneous with their actions like that. They should give you a heads up. They think of something they want ya to do asap when they could give you a moment to collect yourself.

Just tell em you'd like a heads up before they expect anything. Maybe tell ya a time when they want something done by instead of waiting behind you to see if you act and get upset over nothing. If you stay calm through it, maybe they will stop being rash.

Don't worry, it'll onlybe for the better part of a decade! And to be honest, I'd rather not get along with my child at that repellent stage in their hideous teenage metamorphosis.

Nah, I'm kidding. Really, I'm dying inside with broodiness whenever I see some angry middle-class 14 year-old wannabe skater with greasy hair, sh*t dress sense and a face like a genetic experiment gone horribly wrong.
Or maybe I'm just dying inside. It's hard to tell sometimes.

It's an affliction I developed in my teenage years. It's tough, but I live with it.

You're not the first to cry that, and I'm sure you won't be the last :)

Oh don't worry! The arguments, slammed dorrs and sullen faces make the years zip by!
You know that saying: "They grow up too quickly!" It's clearly a lie, resulting from a lot of denial of the past few years.
All that said, I was a relatively nice teenager. Boring, but nice.

You're right. On the other hand, I feel sure you'll be a great dad :)
I base that opinion on the very good impression I get of you as a person from the internet, the caring way you talk about your kid and these magic beans I traded for my cow. They don't taste very nice.

well my dad always complains about me coming online too much.
whenever i go downstairs to get a snack, his sarcastic talk comes into play , lol. ":O who are you?, i never see you, bloody hell"." .. :/.

and Cpt. if i was you dont spoil your kid!

my mother didnt spoil me, and treated me like an adult, i find thats the best way.

of course, its none of my buiness,, id understand if you turned round and told me to feck off :E

EDIT: i never argue with my parents, el chi :p

Yeah, because parents are these hideous malevolent creatures forged from sheer malice, spawning offspring with the sole aim of tormenting them and making their lives a living hell by telling them to do their homework...
Never mind that they feed, shelter and clothe you. There's also a chance - just a chance - that they might actually care for you?

This isn't aimed specifically at you Kore! Just so's you know :)

heheh sad indeed, you need more cheerful people in your life ..people that are prone to say nice thing like "I hope you dont get squished by a bus" or "Hi Chi, it's a beautiful day, I hope you dont get cancer!" :)

Parents are funny old things. Love um one minute, hate um the next.

I left my house last year for about two weeks and slept round friends houses cuz my mum started going crazy at all my mates. She kicked my best friend out the house for sitting on my bed, because she thought he wasn't clean enough - as you can imagine I was pretty friggin shocked and ended up in an argument, which resulted in me packing a little bag and buggering off.

So if your parents are being idiotic, or unreasonable, f**k them - you know when you're being stupid, and if you're not, and getting agro, don't accept it.

...I've gotta tell the rents I wanna drop out of uni and start again in Cardiff on sunday.. am not looking forward to that....

lol read my post again, i said a 'friend of mine'.. not me.

and where did i say the part where my parents tell me to 'do my homework' , i dont go to school anymore. plus i do respect my parents, they treat me like an adult.. always have.

and where the hell?!?! did i say, 'i hate my parents, i think they dont care for me?'... lol :upstare: .

im sorry el chi, youve caught the wrong end of the stick from my post it seems, anyway not all parents in the UK care for thier children, id like to let you know :x

cheers for the lecture anyway. :o

if parents treat you w/ respect you'll treat them w/ respect. Being too over protective on your kid is a bad idea, but obviously not being protective enough is bad too. Somehow you have to find the happy medium... making do their hw and getting good grades, while also letting them go out w/ their friends and not freaking out if you find that little baggy you'd been hoping not too.

correct, thats how im gonna raise my future kid.

hope i have one :E

Read the last line of el Chi's post Kore :p

Most of the time it's the snotty kid like me that's in the wrong, sometimes after an argument I think to myself - "Wow, I'm such a arrogant bastard". In some of earlier years I truly was a little git, I wouldn't of liked to be my parents then. It seems finally I'm growing out of it.

oops sorry. el chi did you edit that in... :P ?

jimmeh, i think both can be as bad as eachother i'm afraid. kids can be brats, but parents can also be over-protective/power mad/or nasty..

my parents brought me up right, i wasnt spoilt, nor was i badly treated. :).

Yeah, that's true Kore - I think I was describing my life there a bit heh :p

A friend of mine doesn't have great parents, in fact - I would hate to be him living with people like them. I won't go into the details - but I just consider myself lucky :)

I don't know what scrims is, I was trying to help, by recommending you get into college if you aren't already, so you can get a good job, and buy a house.

I fought with my parents everyday for many years, and the fighting didn't stop untill I moved out. Now we get along GREAT!!

If you get out of high school and get a job, you won't make enough to buy a house.

What about a boring kid with a chip on his shoulder!? The best of both hideous worlds.

Well, it's nice to know that for all your liberal fabulousness, you're still going to give him what for and use the old corporal punishment. ;)

Mustn't joke about these things, actually. Whoops!

You're not wrong! Actually, the main reason I haven't had nicer compliments (not that I didn't appreciate it) is that I've been holed up in me room typing and avoiding typing up a philosophy essay.

Well, that's what I tell myself.

See my thread "Social, Moral and Academic problem"

I need to get out of the uni I'm at right now, there is nothing, and I mean nothing ever happening. I've got a lot of friends down Cardiff (Wale's capital city) and there's a lot happening down there. I really need to get there.

Cheers for the concern tho Papa Stern :D

I did that, they mess with me some, but never touch my pc stuff, because they know I'd jump their ass and have them fix everything they break. They saw how much my video card was and were like "ugggh thats expensive." Just make sure your family owns some Whale Harpoons and you'll be fine :E
