This is quite easy to understand and 'officially' mainstream science's best understanding of the universe.
Basically particle physic's has predicted an active 'vacuum field' that is required for the fundemental's of the model to work.
They have already had a few promising result's.
Basically they are looking for a particle smaller than a quark, named the Higgs Boson, if they find it which they already think they may have ( just need more confirmation from better particle accelerator's) its definitive proof of vacuum field, scalar field, gravity field... whatever you want to call it.
Its interesting particularly.. because Thomas Bearden a nuclear physicist did talk's about this 30 years ago in the 1970's about the existance of a scalar field / vacuum field which is omnipresent throughout the entire universe.
Highly recommended watching, it will definately get you thinking.
