Today I tooke my driving theory test, and I passed. I got 3 questions wrong, and thats because they weren't in the book that I revised from.

Anyway, I did it first time round so my mum and dad gave mea tenner as a little surprise :)

I'm quite happy, I can book my practical now and finaly get out into the world of driving. Although, I've decided that I'm going to only use my car on longer journies, and when I need it fast. Going to collage, I'm still gonna use my bike.

Rar for me!

well done mate.

might want to think about investing that tenner in some hard liquor.

i still haven't learnt to drive ;( *grumbles something about road tax/fuel/traffic*

Its nice being able to drive anywhere you want

Dedalus, you left out "Insurance".

Well done, Farrowlesparrow. I got 31/35 for mine, but that was ages ago.

Yay! Congrats! I'm still about a year away from when I can take my drivers licence test :( I wan't it noowww!!1

driving theory? ...can you get a phd in driving ;) wow you brits dont mess around when it comes to driving

but congrats anyways, welcome to the world of high insurance rates, crappy drivers and huge repairs costs ...oh and try not to hit anything for the first year or so ...your insurance will go up ...moreso if what you hit is breathing at the time

Congrats.

I failed my first time (by one question) because I most of the test was on the one thing I didn't review.

When I went the second time, I aced it.

As for the practical, that one varies depending on your driving instructor. I still think they automatically fail you the first time to make money.

You drive on the other side of the road, that's crazy.

What? Don't you have a test where you have to identify what you'll do in certain situations and what the signs mean?

nope. as long as they can drive 10m forward, and 10m in reverse, they've passed :P

Yeah My cousin was about the same age as me when he passed...to get insured on a Volvo he (Or I should say his parents) had to pay £2000. I just wouldnt have bothered.

Feath did you ahve the video clips when you took it? You know the hazard awareness thing...

I've had about a million lessons, so my driving instructor has made enough money. Also, he does a deal that if you fail, you get free lessons until you pass :)

I know a few people who past the first time, they told me the best time to go is right before lunch since that is when the instructors are anxious to get on their break and won't make you go for very long.

I past my written test with 1 question wrong but I still have to take my practical test. It sucks driving with parents. ;(

Oh and congradulations Farrow!

Heh, when you pass your test first time now, you can only get 6 points on your license for the first two years because they think you are going to be really cockey.

ya you take a written test to identify signs but you're mostly judged on a road test, which can be difficult depending on where you take the test ...oh and I did this a long time ago so it could have changed since

Ya the system now is you take the written test and you get your G1, that lets you drive anywhere but the highway and you must always have someone with a full certified licsence sitting next to you in the front seat the whole time.

The practical test gives you your G2 which lets you drive anywhere completely alone and with only one or two minor restrictions, but you have to renew it every year (I think its a year) or take the final test to prevent your license from being revoked.

The final practical test is to get your full G license which makes you a fully certified driver, but that one is supposedly incredibly difficult. From what I hear it takes the majority of people 3 tries before they finally get it.

Oh and this of course is only if you live in Ontario.

heh when I first got my license I could drive alone and didnt have less demerit points than a "normal" driver ...but insurance was crazy expensive ($800 as an occasional driver ..today it would be closer to $3000/yr on a crappy car) ...this is in ontario btw

Heh, here you get your Provisional license before taking any test, but you ahve to have someone inthe car with a full license who has been driving for 3 years and is 21 or over.

Then once you take the theory and the practical, you get a full license.

In southern ireland, they ran out of driving instructors so many people got their provisional with lets them drive with someone in the car, and then they got the second level of the provisional which lets them drive alone....without taking a test :O

The whole drivers education program where I am was the easiest class I ever took. What scares me is that some people in my class actually failed.

But anyway, driving is overrated. During the last 4 summers I've been constantly going between two places that I live that are 3 hours apart. Ugh, I hate that stretch of road with a passion.

:) I love driving, I do it all the time. I don't really mind standing in traffic...Its not that I enjoy it so much as I just don't think about it, especially when I have music on or something like that.

As for driving the same stretch of road, well I wont have that problem as il be on my bike doing regular journies, and riding a bike is at least healthy if not more interesting.

ya but you live in england ...nice winding roads ...we have mostly flat straight roads here in ontario ...very boring to drive

Well they aren't all small country lanes....there are motorways and such like but I suppose you are right.

Nah, I think I did mine a few months before they came in. I've heard that they're easy though.

I have a learners permit. It's a pain trying to learn with my father in the car shouting commands. "Turn left Greg...left...LEFT......car...watch out for that CAR GREG! Christ you're blind...are you blind?! You're blind! Turn right here...slow down........slower......SLOW...you have to SLOW down the car when you turn! What's wrong with with you?!"...and so on.

That reminds me.

*Book Theory Test*

Congrats Farrowlesparrow. Btw, what part of England are you from?

*Note to self, stay away from any roads in Manchester - If you want to live that is. :p*

When I went for my Provisional License, it was bucketing down with rain, so the instructor told me I didn't have to do my reverse-parallel park because "Transport SA don't want us instructors to catch our death of cold"...ahhhh jolly fat men, gotta love them :)

Not quite...I'm from Stalybridge (At least, thats where I live at the moment and its kind always been "my" town even when I lived miles away) which is near Manchester.

Last night the rain was coming down so hard that it honestly did look like lines or water falling from the sky. There is a path near me that is quite steep, I would say about 30degrees, and the water flowing down it was 2 inches deep. That was flowing down a hill, the road in front of my house was a river and we live on the side of a hill. But, yeah...Sunny Manchester :)

Very funny laryz :O The joy of cars is that you can drive them anywhere ;)

I'm guessing a Tenner is One Hundred Pounds?
