Well, I was just sitting here in summer school (not because I failed, but because I wanted to get ahead) and I was reading the chapter in my textbook I had to read for speech, and I came across the name of "Paul Eckman" and I said "Where have I heard that name before?" and then I was like "Oh, yeah Half-life 2!" (as you know, Eckman was the psychyatrist who helped valve design the facial animations)

Apparentley, the text book said, Eckman had discovered that there were over 100 different types of smiles, and most of them were false.

I was just startled to find something about the game in my textbook, and thought it was 1337.

There was nothing about the game you read, just about the physch that helped with the facial anims...

I doubt his last name is spelled "ECK" if he's a Swede. "EK" would be more likely.

Still a pretty nice find.

Didn't they just use his research and not hire him? That's what I heard.

:bounce:

coming to think of it.. think u might have a point .. poo

but i think he had payed valve a few visits and stuff to check up .. dunno where i had heard this from..

Thats cool, Valve did their research. I really like that, it is so apparent in HL2 and One. Its really cool to have that level of proffesionalism in a game company.

I think Eckman did help Valve. They used his research but also used the man himself to help fine tune the system. Without him, we wouldn't have the lip-synch functions that will come in the SDK.
