Is there any way to pay for World of Warcraft without using a credit card? I heard about the cards you can get from stores, but can you pay using something like paypal?

I just used gamecards. something like 20 bucks for 2 months or something like that.

There is a "gamecard" option that you can get from places like GAME (EB) and HMV/Megastore, etc. You can buy them from shops with paper money and then enter the code on the card on the website and you're done!

I believe they are available now but I have a feeling they're not available untill april.

And oops, a couple of those shops may not be applicable depending on what you have in the US :p

When I signed up, Im sure I saw the option to pay by "Pay-Pal"

yep

I payed with a game card

30$ for 2 months.
plus u get 1 month free w/the game

The game card should be sold wherever the game is sold, but that doesn't mean they will have any left in stock ;)

*Note: You cannot begin playing untill u have used some sort of payment on thier online system.

Pay-Pal.
Game Card
Credit Card

I've been told by a guy you can use a Debit Card

30 dollars for 2 months, wow im glad Im not addicted, thats so much money for a game. Greedy people

Woohooo, 30 dollars, BFD.

According to WoW, I've got 7 days of combined play time, that is 7 x 24 hours of entertainment, after just a little over a month. I wouldn't call 30 dollars much for a game which has to fund about 80 servers and the people running them.

(that's pretty scary, 7 days, like 1/5 of my total time in the time I have WoW, could that be correct? To find out yours: type in '/played')

Hate to be arse. But let me give you a little heads up , use it or not. Played the WoW stress beta, and also played the or /play the GW weekend beta events. Hmmmm lets see both rich in graphics, both engrossing quests, hmmm both can mod characters, both have PvP, hmmmm one is FREE! Now upon gold I do not know how a MMORPG is going to play out as free. However the makers of Guild Wars say it will be expanded regularily. We shall see.

Guild Warz

WoW dont want my money... they wont take my credit card details. so... il be buying game cards from now on. My next three month is 'pending' after being refused and they are still letting me play. :D

i use my game card because i don't have a cr edit card

they cost 30 US money for 60 days

It's considered as a MMORPG, but Arenanet calls its a cmorpg

While it is more like Diablo 2 than WoW.
Only Towns\Getting into Quests are mmorpg. Like chat rooms in D2.
When you go in quests and wilderness areas its a totally diffrent thing from WoW and other mmorpg's. You only see your party. You only recieve packets from your party.

In other mmorpg's you can see everyone that is in the same area as you.

This is a MASSIVE Reduction on bandwidth.

They will be releasing high quality expansions every 6 months..you wont have to buy them but they should be worth it.

Guild Wars is fun and was created from Ex-Key-Blizzard employs. It overall is nothing like a true mmorpg though.

You need for look at it this way:

I have not touched another game since I got World of Warcraft.

Honestly, if you buy one 80 dollar game, that's 4 months worth of payments right there (in terms of Canadian dollars).

I know some people do buy a game or two a month, where since I have WoW, I stick to one game, rather than buying many which get boring very fast.

^yes, but that 80 dollar game can be played for more than 4 months. THe original unreal tournament got me 4 years of entertainment, and i played it alot. That's well over 1000, very likely more than 5000 hours for the low low price of $14.99 canadian.

I will never buy an MMORPG as long as a live, but if you want to, that's not my problem.

Your loss, you'll be missing out on many great games.

Maybe, but maybe not.

Name one "great" game that has come out since the release of World of Warcraft (November 22nd)

Gran Turismo 4 is probably pretty good, but other than that, none honestly come to mind. I did rent Resident Evil 4 when I was away, which was good.

You know what he is saying?
He is saying the game is SO GOOD that he dosn't have to buy a game every month to keep his intrests up, 1 game does it better than buying a game every month.

So really your missing out on a very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very Great Game.

Not really, I was in the beta for quite a while and I didn't think it was *that* good.

I certainly didn't like it enough to prevent me from buying games like Resident Evil 4 or Metal Gear Solid 3.

I bet you're not playing those games anymore though, are you?

I'm not knocking either of those games, especially RE4, because I did enjoy that for the brief period I rented it, but honestly, games like that just don't last, and they cost so much for a short play time.

Again, I'm not saying they're bad games, it's just the genre, they can be beaten in a day or two if you really play it, at $140+* for both of them, that's months and months of enjoyment of World of Warcraft.

ie: Buy the game ($70)* and two game cards ($80)*

Countless hours of playtime for months.

I buy mabye 2 games a year.

I have friends with suitcases full of PS2 games.

Believe me, there are people.

I for one did buy HL2 and San Andreas all within a few weeks, but that was a rare occasion.

So? I like story driven games that can be completed in a few sit-ins. For instance I hated Morrowind because it dragged on and it took ages to get anywhere.

When I've completed a good game it feels like money well spent, even if it does last only 12 hours, which for the entertainment to price ratio is proportinate to what you'd get if you went to see a movie.

I'm not saying WoW isn't a good game and isn't entertaining but I wouldn't be willing to give up single player games for it, which I enjoy too much.
