I've recently become interested in eBay in order to buy some cables for my Gamecube, and I know that Paypal is the preferred method to pay the seller.

It all seemed great until I stumbled upon this place called "paypalsucks.com" whose argument is that Paypal is the incarnation of Satan himself imposed upon the world in digital form. The propaganda is so effective that I found myself questioning whether I should even set up an account for fear of identity theft.

So does anyone here have real, tangible horror stories from Paypal, or is the site the voice of a vocal, but deluded minority?

I've bought from ebay but never through paypal.

Never heard the horror stories but hey they could be real.

Pay cash or cheque no hassle, no probs.

Like I said I've never gone through paypal and can't give an opinion either way. It is scary giving your banking details over line.
There are plenty of well documented scams on ebay but I won't know if paypal was one.
sorry this is your call.

I've used paypal many times, never had a problem. EVER. The money comes straight out of my checking account. I never actually keep money in my paypal account. My dad has used it for years too and he is a crazy ebayer. I would recommend it.

Well, many people don't trust paypal, but I've never heard any cases of it going pear-shaped. The only thing I'd watch out for is that many internet scams try to dupe you by pretending they are something to do with paypal, for example masquerading as an email from the PayPal people.

Don't know about the US, but in the UK you can't waive your legal rights and protection, doesn't matter what you sign.

Such things are unenforceable.
