here's the gist of it: Pc gamer decided to have a contest where the winner would win a $7500 falcon northwest pc ..the catch being that the only contestants allowed to draw for the prize were people waiting in line to buy PS3's ...12 people in the front of the line put their names and a winner was drawn ..however having won the $7500 pc the winner had to agree to a couple of conditions: he couldnt buy a ps3 for 3 years and he couldnt sell the pc for 3 years (he signed a contract) ..they billed this event as "Convert the console gamer to pc gaming"

I thought it was kinda stupid to be honest ...also kind of petty. To top it off the person who won mentioned on the pc gamer podcast that he was buying the ps3 to resell it on ebay ..and on top of that he was a big WoW fan ..meaning he was already a pc gamer ...the only winner is the guy who won a $7500 pc ..PC gamer's stunt kinda backfired on them

oh yeah cuz you cant like both things

and that painting is ugly

That's so freakin dumb.

How the hell could they check up?

I would buy one anyways cause it's not like they would know... If I want a good gaming experience and it happens to be on a PS3, then that's fine with me.

Oh yeah they couldn't of just ran into my cousins house and gave it to me in the middle of the night.

DAMN THEM ALL!

That's retarded ...

Whatever, at least he got a kickass PC and he'll still probably get a PS3 when he wants one.

heh in the contract it states that pc gamer can do 2 surprise visits every year for 3 years to make sure he hasnt bought one ...if caught he has to pay the $7500 back ...not that he couldnt play at a friends (he wasnt alone in line)

2 surprise visits my ass, just dont answer the door and hide the ps3 then say you were in the bathroom. Anyways he was only gonna sell it so he'd only be richer.

Wow, that makes me mad. Give that PC to someone that deserves it.

You could just refuse to let them in and hide the thing. Not to mention that I'm sure it's probably about the most flimsy contract the world has ever seen. If it does simply state that he couldn't buy one ... well it would be almost impossible to prove ownership.

"Uh, yeah I was borrowing it."

I wonder if they will actually do checkup visits for more publicity stunts. Surely by now they've realized how stupid this whole thing is.

Weird, picture coming home to see your apartment a mess and a bunch of guys in suits ransacking your bedroom looking for the ps3.....

That PC has SLI 8800s and a Intel Duo, well... it should for $8000. It was a waste for PC Gamer.

Ding.

Suppose it was your birthday and someone decided to get you a PS3?

Or if it was Christmas? Or any other holiday? :|

the contracts says he cant receive a ps3 as a gift

I could wait 3 years to get a PS3. Especially if they gave me a PC worth that much. Lucky get.

What if your mom bought a PS3 for "herself"?

I'm sure I could find a loophole.

there cant be a ps3 in his house at any time for 3 years; part of the contract

doesnt mean he couldnt visit his ps3 owning friend (which he had plenty of because they were in line with him and also in the draw for the pc

Haha, I've been having totally enfuriating issues with my PC all day, and this didn't really help either. GG PC Gamer :P

Of course, my 360 is shitting up again, so I can't really complain (about one and not the other).
