PC Games, xbox 360-controller support only

In the last 2 years, I've noticed a large quantity of new PC games only support the XBOX 360 controller. Sure it's a nice thumb-pad controller, however for driving, motorcycle, helicopter, and flying... I much prefer using a 3-axis joystick.... and the ability to chose my own hardware.

I can't list all the games off the top of my head, but for example.... GTA3 was perfect with a joystick, especailly for motorcycle stunts. But GTA 4 didn't support it. Many racing games lack joystick support as well. Most recently, I loaded up the Just Cause 2 demo... smooth controls, great aiming, etc, etc.... but only supports the xbox360 controller.

P.S. Ranting aside...does anyone know of a good workaround?

There's a little doohickey called xinput that makes the game recognize whatever controller you have as the 360 controller. Works pretty well and I use my PS2 controller for it.

xbox360 controller emulator..there are tons of those around..
