Dam it all, I have another problem. At least it's not to do with HL2 this time...
My laptop overheats. I've checked the fans, and they seem to be unobstructed. I know that I'm not pressing the hardware or software too hard, because I'm not running anything higher than HL2, which it ran fairly well until recently. Any help?

P.S. I have not actually opened my laptop to see what's wrong yet.

You probably got a chunka dust inside thats insulating the cpu heat perhaps, or even completely halting the airflow.

Get ready to open the laptop :naughty:

Does it overheat to the point where it crashes/reboots? If not, you haven't really got a problem. My laptop gets really goddam hot (hot as the power converter block) when playing Garry's Mod, but that's to be expected when you're running the CPU and graphics card at full whack. Not much you can do about it...

if your using it on a bed ( duvet quilt ) then thats blcoking up air flow

if u are using it on desk then that aint problem

If you jsut wanna be sure take it apart and clean it DONT geta can of air and just blow it into the holes because that will spin any fans too fast and will cause more damage then good,
If you did all this and it still fudged try using it outside when it is cold and see if it happens then, this way if it still happens if isnt a overheating prolem

It crashes when it overheats, and I have opened up the laptop to see what's wrong, and it seems fine.

I'd still recommend cleaning the dust out. My CPU temp on my PC dropped by almost 10 degrees C after cleaning it thoroughly.
