Resident Evil 4, Onimusha 3, Devil May Cry 3 headed to PCs

GameSpot's Game of the Year and two other Capcom titles take on new platform, courtesy of Ubisoft.

Pessimists and console fanboys may say PC gaming is dead, but with Ubisoft's latest announcement, it may be more appropriate to call in undead. The French publisher has signed a deal with Osaka-based Capcom to distribute three of its games, including Resident Evil 4, for the PC in Europe and North America.
In addition to the previously rumored RE4, Ubisoft will distribute PC versions of Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening Special Edition and Onimusha 3: Demon Siege. All three games appeared on the PlayStation 2, with Resident Evil 4 also appearing on the GameCube.

This isn't the first trip on the PC for the Resident Evil series. The original Resident Evil, Resident Evil 2, and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis have all scared the wits out of PC gamers over the years. The Devil May Cry and Onimusha series, on the other hand, are making their debut on the platform.

Onimusha 3 for the PC will be the first game to hit stores when it is released in February. Ubisoft has not yet announced release dates for the other two titles.

Old news? OK. not to me.

Onimusha 3 for the PC will be the first game to hit stores when it is released in February.
So this game is already out?

Ubisoft has not yet announced release dates for the other two titles.
RE4 is said to be out June 2, 2006

Dante heads to the PC in Devil May Cry 3 SE, filled with a number of new features and playable characters. Expect a new boss, a new mode, and quirky new options.

I'm interested in all the news on these games. You can post it here.

I'm definitely not a fan of DMC, but I will be going to the store this week to see if I can't pick up Onimusha 3, and I can't freaking wait for RE4. Great news to me, I'm sorry if you already knew this (why didn't you tell me!) :)

So looks like they missed some deadlines there, can't wait for RE4 pc version.

Here're the sum up off the Onimusha 3 review off GameSpot.

The Good: A direct translation of a memorable PlayStation 2 action adventure game; impressive presentation despite some blurry graphical elements ; quick, responsive controls even on relatively modest systems; budget price.
The Bad: Looks and feels like an older PlayStation 2 game quickly ported to the PC.

Now, it's nice you're gonna get to enjoy RE4, but I heavily recommend getting a joypad to play it on your PC, because playing it on a mouse will UNDOUBTEDLY make the game super-easy, unless they've changed a ton of things :p

Also, I hope Onimusha 4 gets a port to the PC, I'm playing through that right now and that game is ****ing great imo.:D

Also, according to http://www.ubi.com/US/ Resident Evil 4 is for sale now!

Yea, I mistakenly thought the one I wanted was Onimusha 3, but I finished that game a few years ago. Great game, although I didn't want it to end (seemed a little short). I'm actually waiting for Onimusha 4.

So really, the game I want out of these 3 is only Resident Evil 4. Yea it should be out any day now, if not already out. It sounds like a great port, and it's only better that they added some extras to the PC version.

Why do you think it will be too easy with a mouse/kb? Are you saying it will be easy to control? Is that a bad thing? :p I can always increase the difficulty. Also, you never know, they may have made the game a little tougher to compensate. Anyway, I do want a gamepad, but I was planing to use the one that comes with the X360, but it can't hurt to have 2. ( I do want the wireless X360 control anyway)

It's an understatement to say I'm pretty excited about this game. You wouldn't be able to tell from my user-name that I'm into this sort of shit.

(I played RE4 in the mall for a few minutes and was blown away. This game is the ****ing best. I've been waiting forever to play it.)
As U.S. agent Leon Kennedy looks into the abduction of the President's daughter, his investigation leads to a mysterious location in Europe.
Encountering unimaginable horrors, he must find out what is behind the terror.

Features:

Experience the thrill-a-minute Resident Evil 4! Now the smash hit, award-winning game delivers exciting new gameplay and bonus features:
NEW chapters - play as Ada Wong in "Separate Ways," 5 terrifying, adrenaline-pumping missions that reveal additional horrific surprise
NEW weapons, including the P.R.L.412 laser cannon and the Gunpowder Bowgun
NEW unlockable costumes for Leon and Ashley
Unsurpassed visuals with breathtaking 3D graphics and effects.
Fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat action.
New gameplay mechanics -- behind-the-back camera perspective & hit zone aiming system.

Those "NEW items" are sadly nothing new for PS2 users, however, for GameCube users they are, the weapons and the chapters were all in the PS2 vers, seeing as they don't specifiy the costumes I can't be too sure.. But in the end the major extras are not anything new for the PC port, and that's pretty cheap imo.. I'd easily considder buying the PC vers if they had added in some new extra features, levels etc..

I think it will be too easy with a mouse and a keyboard because it's easy enough on the PS2 with a bloody joypad, and it can only get EASIER with the more precise aiming that you get from a mouse..
If it's a straight port like Onimusha 3 was and it sounds like a straight port of the PS2 version, they've probably not changed the difficulty, but lets hope for the best..

I've been waiting for a PC version simply for the sharpness of the VGA monitor and the ultra high resolution options. (**** a Playstation :x ) It's going to be ****ing awesome as hell  You know you want to pick up another copy G. :D

I am also happy to be able to buy a game that I'm certain will run really well on my outdated PC. RE4 isn't a fast paced shooter or anything so it should be fine. I can run D3 and HL2, I should be able to run this game NP. Those UT type of games require a top-end PC to maintain framerate.

I may not be able to run in super high rez with my PC, but eventually I will be able to when I upgrade. Thats why I prefer PC games over console games; the game gets better as time goes on. Eventually I'll be playing it at 1600 x 1200 resolution, instead of the 520 x 380 -ish resolutions of the old consoles.

No doubt the PC version is going to be cheap even brand new to boot.

Basically, I think the end statement means that Ubisoft are still using Starforce for copyprotection on RE4, and if so, **** them, no way I'm installing that crap on my computer :(

^^ Hm... I thought they ended their agreement with the StarForce team a week or two ago? Or maybe they switched with another copy protection company (just a wild guess)?

Or maybe although they ended the contract it means they will not use it in new games etc that weren't included in the previous agreement but games like RE4 etc will still have it.:p

A while ago, I downloaded Starforce remover. You just click it and it removes starforce from your PC, but I hope they didn't go with Starforce. I'll still buy the game regardless however.

Dude, Shut the **** up. :|

I'm just hoping RE4 won't be some shoddy console port.

They should totally let you use a chainsaw too. D:

Chances are they bought a license to use it for XXX number of games, but are not obligated to use it in XXX number of games.
