Okay, I want to connect my computer up to the internet in my dad's house, but the "PCI Device" is not installed. I have looked for drivers for the Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC. I found some, tried them, and they didn't work. It would say the computer couldn't find the drivers, so when I selected them, it come up something about no information from them.

Can anyone get me a link and a step-by-step guide on how to fix this? Do I need to give any more information?

Thanks!

Are you SURE the "PCI Device" is for your ethernet? Try having windows update grab the download for ya. (either start menu or through IE)

Otherwise, what is your motherboard's model? Grab CPU-z to see what it says OR open up the PC case and look between the PCI slots in somewhat big white letters it will say.

if its an integrated device then it should say Ethernet device. i also have a random missing pci device but idk what the hell it is.

But for Windows Update, you need the internet, do you not?

Blah, I'm not going to open the case up again because yesterday, I messed the entire machine up, but I got it working. I'll try that "CPU-z" thing soon.

Okay, did that CPU-z thing, see attachment.

Also, yesterday a "SM bus controller" was under "Unknown Devices" in Device Manager. But after I did something, its gone under Universal SM bus controllers. Or something like that.
