I know that I am going to upgrade to an amd 3500+ 939... but I can't see to find any place to buy socket 939 mobos with pci express out there. Anyone know which mobo is the best out there if there is any yet? If there is where can I buy one?

Expect them slowly to start coming out in late summer, early fall. Its funny how new technology always gets pushed back or delayed in some way...

Yea...939 MoBos' arent out, and PCI-X aint even close. Your gonna have a nice wait.

How long will a be waiting for just the 939s? Would it be worth it getting a PCI-X? I'm just building a system completly for hl so it will probably have a x800 in which case i won't need PCI-X? Is it worth the wait? Would I be better of not even getting the 939 model and going for that normal 734 socket? Thanks for you replies!

Well the 939s' (mobos) are in very short supply, but in a few weeks to a month i THINK, we should really be spotting them.

As for PCI-X, ehhh dont waste your time, these cards are barely touching the 8x AGP limit, so even if you waited till October, it wouldnt be worth going all these months with nothing.

It kind of reminds me of the 9800XTs'. To me it made no sense why someone would go out and buy a XT for $500 when you coulda got a 9800 Pro for half that price and very little speed difference. IMO it was kind of deserving, because most of the people I know who bought the XT were people jumping on the ATI bandwagon to late and ended up getting exploited. Banwagoning suckers.

Dont worry about PCI-X until next year...THEN youll have to get one, but trust man, it aint worth the price their gonna charge for it, or the wait.

I...M...O ;)

Especially since you flash a pro to XT :D

Well if you wanted the highest performance couldn't you oc a XT beyond anything that is out right now?

Dude...the xt alone IS beyond anything that is out right now.

Yeah but you can still save over 200$ if you flash a 9800NP/P to XT. Sure it wouldn't be as performant as a OC'ed XT but it's still a good deal no?

PCI-express mobos with 939 chips are comming september

pci-x is crap stop mistaking it with pci-express.

and finally let me say x800xt pci-express and 6800 pci-express are also do out soon.

I will be waiting for both 939 and pci-express.

If i were to get a 756 socket now and regular agp, i would be at a dead stop for upgrading later.

You need pci-x for gigabit ethernet. It will be useful down the road in a couple of years.

I remember hearing something about AMD keeping the Athlon XP line and moving them to Socket 754. So getting a Socket 754 isn't exactly a dead end on upgrading.

It's not PCI-X its PCI-E, PCI-X is something else.

I ****ing knew that, but after seeing people confuse it for so long I forgot which is which.

Anyway, stop having a pansy attack just because someone got confused with a little letter.

Those same PCI express mobos were also suppose to be out in March, so dont hold your breath.

And 756 isnt a dead stop, because how many people every actually ONLY upgrade their processor? We all buy our mobo's so we can just buy a new cpu later, but hardly anyone ever does it.

So I say if you cant spend $500 on a cpu, but still want 64bit, theres no problem getting a 756.

Is there any possiblity that a company will supprise us and release a 939 w/ pci express sometime around june or july? It seems like the dates are always changing, is there still hope? :P
If not I can always upgrade my mobo later, what 939 should I get thats coming out with in the next 2 weeks or so?
