there's also a fairly good Chomsky interview, give it a listen, interesting stuff. He gives a solution to the iraq occupation ...but you'll have to listen to most of it to hear it :) .BTW chomsky is in hsi 70's and has suffered illness as of late so he sounds a little raspy

Folks. This is your average american/american soldier in the eyes of these people.

did you even listen to the jukebox? politics aside there's some good music there. Listen to chomsky interview.

Agh! Your irrefutable (sp?) convincing has overcome me. Listening....

Sigh that represents america as a state.

Its pretty obvious.

Thats just as bad. America is not a culimination if its government, politicians, and policies of the modern day. It has its history.

I shall not be brainwashed!

*listens* :E

and whats up with that pic?

why are you assuming it's reflecting on ALL of america instead of on the ones responsible for the war? ..I think that's pretty obvious

Cause of the ignorance I see constantly from the people on your side of the fence, always spouting off stupid generalizations about the american public, mirroring their opinion of them based on the government rather than the diversity of the american culture.

So, you fight generalizations with more generalizations? Hey, if it works with fire...

Well... could be construed as that. But no not really. I'm fully aware its a vocal minority, but still a minority from that side of the spectrum.

Anyways. I'm not gonna discuss it in this thread anymore. I already derailed the thread enough.

I'm surprised raziaar, that's a pretty generalized statement there, with absolutely no basis in truth ..I fail to see how criticising the government's decision to go war equates with hate of americans in general. The problem as I see it is that rather than face certain undeniable truths you (and others who hold the same opinions) deny this truth as merely another "left wing conspiracy" to the point that any dissent is seen as "just another example of anti-americanism" ...it has a two pronged effect: it bolsters your resolve in your POV, and washes away any guilt associated with the particular issue at hand

example:

"......We think the price was worth it"

"she didnt say that!! she meant something else, leftist propaganda twisted her words"

..and the real issue (500,000 dead iraqi children) is ignored

you have NO idea how frustrating that is for me

Well... I see your point, but that particular statement certainly doesn't pertain to me. I never would have defended such a stupid statement.

Honestly, shouldn't this be in Off-Topic? Why is this in politics, apart from to provoke a big ol' debate?

no. more because of the spoken word bits ..listen to the Chomsky interview

the words themselves dont really matter as I've encountered this sort of rational from every iraq war supporter.... within varying degrees of denial

Okay. Had time now to actually listen to the entire chomski interview.

First off... he doesn't quite sound like he's 70. Sounds like he's a middle aged guy with a slightly course, raspy and ragged breath.

Anyways. I agree with just about everything he says, except when he gets into the whole israel-palestine discussion, which I disagree pretty strongly with him. Did I hear him reccomend that Israel should completely dislodged themselves from where they are at currently(and essentially migrating elsewhere), in order to create peace? Rediculous notion if I understood it correctly(which chances are, I didn't.)

You didn't gasp or anything when I said I agreed with just about everything else he said.

I figured you'd stroke out on me.

not really ..I find that most people agree when they actually listen to what he has to say ..but kudos on your part :)

What he said.

again read/listen to the chomsky ..the site is about politics hence why it's in the politics board

Shame that I hate just about every single band on that list. Even though the cause is good. =(
