Go and look at other Xbox 360 games like Gears of War or Condemned - they look far better than these PDZ screenshots. I hope there's some kind of inconsistency somewhere, because the footage at the MTV show looked a bit better. Even so, I hope they make huge improvements for the release... the whole cartoony style of Joanna in the screenshot isn't appealing at all.babyheadcrab said:people seem to believe that the pre-rendered bullshit is the standard or something. The graphics wont be photorealistic ffs..
I don't believe any kind of extra-terrestrials will be making an appearance in Zero, since it's set before the time of the original Perfect Dark.Reginald said:*carresses Perfect Dark cartridge*
What have they done to you?
I was hoping for a picture of the Skedar... they would look impressive even with those mediocre graphics.
And that third shot better not be the Farsight. That would just piss me off.
I'm dissapointed.

They did, but Joanna hadn't met any aliens prior to the storyline of PD... and since it's pretty much certain that we'll be playing as her again in PDZ, there probably won't be any alien encounters.Reginald said:I need to play it again, but didn't Carrington Institue always deal with Aliens? I haven't played the one player mode in too long
Well, if it doesn't have any, it's not going to be Perfect Dark as we know it anyway. I just pray for a PC port so I won't have to shell out for XBox 360 :/
This is the launch title - Microsoft have literally poured money into it, so the majority were expecing something a little better than this. I have total confidence that we'll see something far nicer at E3, though.Suicide42 said:I've never played the original Perfect Dark... wouldn't mind giving it a go, but I doubt I'll be able to find a second hand copy anywhere... or, for that matter, an N64. Although I saw one for £15 in my local second hand shop a while ago. It's rediculous when the second hand games are more expensive than the coinsole...
Knowing nothing apout Perfect Dark, I can't really comment on this. Personally I think the graphics are fine, I don't understand why everyone is thiking UE3 has set the basic standard of graphics now; these graphics look just as good as Doom3 (but then again it's hard to tell).

Perfect Dark was awesome. You know when games just have that 'feel' that makes them so uniquely excellent? Yeah, it had that feel and then some. Seriously though, how could you not have at least played it? I doubt you'll be impressed now though, it has aged badly and the framerate is shocking.Suicide42 said:Ah right. I'm sure E3 will provide something better, as you said. I mean what we've seen so far could be anything; the screenshots don't even look like they're from the same game.
What about the original Perfect Dark; I've heard it's amazing? I had the gameboy colour version, and althpugh I can't remember much, it had superb gameplay and a strange sci-fi plot (something about aliens?). Looking back it kinda seems like Deus Ex- which is definately a good thing.

I still love Nintendo to bits. :/
Axyon said:Honestly, it's becoming so convincing that the 1up screenshots are nothing but incredibly old prototypes. The main factor is the ourcolony reward that was probably given to prepare everyone for the unveiling at MTV/E3. Consequently, at MTV we are shown a brief shot of Joanna in the footage (and I'm convinced it's ingame - see below); she looks almost exactly like the promo shot from ourcolony. Why would they change from this human look to the cartoon style we've seen in the 1up screenshots? It makes no sense at all.
I'm not talking about the arty shot with Joanna in front of the blue backround, I mean the capture with her pointing dual pistols (which actually look like MagSecs!) at the camera.mortiz said:Why are you convinced it's in-game? As far as I can see there's no evidence to support that.
