Simple question, which of the portable rocket launchers do you take in your Engineer class?

I take the Carl Gustav in 19 out of 20 situations. Great for knocking Black Hawks out of the air. Although it isn't as good at taking out Heavy Armor, it's still is my favorite.

The RPG does more damage to tanks, i saw it in a weapon damage chart somewhere. You only need to shot 2 rockets at the back of a tank to blow it up, while the carl requires 3 hits. Might have changed though, not sure.

True. The Rpg does more damage, but the Carl has a larger blast radius and rockets that travel faster and suffer less drop.

Personally, I like the Carl Gustav for two reasons, combined with the explosions perk you can take out like 5 people at once, and it's named CARL GUSTAV which is a badass name for killing things. If I'm in a sea of tanks I'll take the RPG, and if there's a lot of range between me and my potential target I'll take the AT4. The problem with the AT4 is that you have to stand there looking retarded until it hits. You're a lot better off hitting something with a tracer and locking on it.

one of the last games I played in some douche was whoring the carl gustav...pissed me off.

anyway, the rpg is more powerful i hear, so that. i don't really play engineer too often.

assault whore ftw

I don't really care for the entire RPG animation system. Seems awkward.

^I agree, it is weird....you fire, there is a slight delay and then the rocket flies out. I always thought it was lag, but it happens on the hl2net server.

In the end, Engineer is going to be my most used class by far, and I still only have the starter RPG and Gustav.....I enjoy slaughtering armor, so the stocker it is.

How do you lock on? I fire the tracer dart at a tank, then aim my rocket launcher and sometimes it acts as a guided missile, but other times it doesn't.

Scope in, wait for the box to stop blinking, then shoot at it. I find it best to shoot at an angle so you don't hit stuff on the way. You may not need to scope but... I always do. Works great on helicopters too if you can dart them.

Also, you're good to fire whenever you see a distance number pop up below the red box.

I wish that were true :( That's what I thought it was at first, but every time I fired it would become a regular retarded missile.

Carl Gustav for sniping recon campers with. The comments I get are priceless.

Carl Gustav - The new newbtube!

I played with it a bit, I felt as cheap using it as I did the 40mm

Personally I don't think that the gustav gives that much of an advantage. Yeah it can get you an easy kill, but then EVERYONE knows where you are... and in a game where death is merely a matter of being spotted, giving away your position can quickly mean eating dirt for a while. The 40mm doesn't give away your position as much, but the reload time makes a miss a death unless no one sees you. It's also pretty much the only way to dispatch medics fast enough that they won't revive everyone on the map. Medics like to huddle together like prairie dogs on a cold winter night.

Medics.

I hate how there is a 1 - 2 second "Invincible' time after revived. I think if someone is dumb enough to revive a person during a gunfight, they should die pretty much right away. Sure, gay for the non-medic, but maybe it takes a point away if the person dies right after getting revived?

YES. I forgot about how much this pisses me off. They bounce right up able to shoot you but you can't do anything to them. I wouldn't mind if they were invincible if they couldn't shoot or anything.
