Also, since it was Something Awful, they were obviously rather douchebaggy to him and now some of them feel bad.

The question was posed in the relevant forum section - 'The Firing Range', obviously where users can talk about firearms. The fact that they laugh over it is pretty much typical SA behaviour; anything goes, stuff like 9/11 and other human distaster is regularly made fun of.
 
A guy wrote in his blog about this. He makes good points.

Oh man, the internet is about to get fun. We're going to see jackass do-gooders crusading once more to strictly regulate the internet. After all, it's our fault this kid found out where to buy buckshot. Oh, and we'll need more gun control once the lobbyists figure out that a shotgun and buckshot is completely legal and can be purchased at Sam's Empire of Evil. I bet violent video games made him do it. Need to ban those. Probably ought to be burning some books as well.

I want to know something. Perhaps some of you can help me. It occurs to me that some people (like this kid) are completely ****ed in the head. I'm not talking a couple of screws loose. I'm not talking about depression. I'm not talking about having suicidal tendencies. No, I mean downright ****ed. This kid was completely ****ed, and the world is probably better off without him in it. Why doesn't anybody ever raise that counter-argument?

Let's look at the other side of this issue. Columbine was eleven (that's five and a half apiece). This kid took out two. Isn't that progress?
