Microsoft has announced the resignation of Peter Moore, corporate vice president of the company's interactive entertainment business.

Moore decided to move his family back to Northern California for "personal reasons" and has secured another opportunity in the videogames industry. Although it has not been officially announced, rumor has it that he will be heading up EA Sports.

How about that?! He was always annoying with the tattoos and such, but I always thought he was a great figurehead. Anyone think it may be to do with the 360 and its trove of problems?
 
Is this is the guy that's been slagging off Sony all the time? He seemed like an a-hole.
 
I don't think its because of how things went with the 360, In my opinion its winning the console war.
 
The 360 is doing fairly well in the console war too though
 
Oh dude. peter moore is the ****ing man. He's like a celebrity. MS's loss IMO. That other guy MS had doing the EA stuff at E3 acts like a douche.
 
MS loss, but i dont really care one bit.
 
So know he is going to be in charge of making good EA sport games and sell them in all consoles possible including PS3, oh the irony...

One-time bonus on top of $550,000 annual salary

According to documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Electronic Arts will be paying Peter Moore USD 1,500,000 in recognition of the compensation value he would be foregoing by leaving Microsoft.

Microsoft announced today that Peter Moore would be resigning his position effective July 30th. Shortly thereafter, Electronic Arts announced that Moore had been hired as president of the EA Sports label.

He has been granted stock options to purchase 350,000 shares of common stock, as well as 50,000 shares of restricted stock which vest as to 50 per cent of the shares in two years and the remaining 50 percent of the shares in four years.

Moore will also participate in the compensation and benefit programs generally available to EA's executive officers

He also said personal reasons guys, it might very well be that a family member close to him have gotten cancer or such a disease which makes him desperately want to return home to be with'em. But I guess such speculation is pointless.
 
I bet he spends some of that money of a PS3 lolz. irony.

Doubt it if he's getting this new job. "Personal reasons" is a common excuse whenever people don't want to give the real reason (scandal, more money, disagreements with management, whatever) for leaving their job.
 
Weel it's MS loss. I always thought he was better than Reggie and Phil Harrison.
 
But yeah, Peter is definitely a better speaker compared to reggie or phil.

His use of tatoo were brilliant.
