Photography (moderate 56k warning)

I've searched the forum and found no similar topic, so I hope this isn't a duplicate thread.

I love photography. I've always been infatuated with digital, but this semester at school I decided to take a photography class and I absolutely love it. Working in the dark room is just one of my favourite things to do now.
So I thought I'd start a thread for all the photography nuts here - come on, I better not be the only one! - to show off some of their shots.

The following are scans of pictures I've taken with my SLR for my class, and a few random digis. Enjoy.

To answer your questions, yes those are stairs. I loved the way they almost created a double-helix with their own shadow.
And yu-huh it's my keyboard. Anyone can do it, really. The keys pop off real easily. Except don't hit yourself in the eye with the Alt key like I did.

Cremator, that's awesome that it reminded you of Ep. 1! I thought the same thing too when I first saw it.

I cropped these very quickly just to show you guys - I'm working on a batch of these right now and saw this thread, so the composition of some of these is a little off

These were taken at a couple of sessions - the bottom one is from the south coast ( dawlish ); a shit session but the lines in the image are nice. The rest were taken down at sandymouth ( just west of Bude ) during a sizeable groudswell that hit a couple days ago.

The black and white images are taken with an Olympus OM-1n SLR, fully developped by me in a dark room. So rewarding!
The rest are all taken digitally, with a Nikon D70, which is my father's. He's a photography nut. Don't ask how we afforded one because I personally have no idea...

I like the first one! I like the decision to leave the background out of focus.
Just to say, if you enjoy taking pictures....the second one seems as if you "forced" the image. You yourself created the shot, as in, you tried to make something beautiful that may not have been...
Let the beauty come to you. Let something inspire you, and then take a picture of that. I used to try and make my shots, but now I let my shots make me and I love the results.
Keep it up!

You know, sometimes I feel like sunsets pictures can be redudant, but all of yours are unique and special in their own way. I really like the way you were able to capture the sun "shining through." Excellent.

I love the B/W ones...
the keyboard shots are too corny for me and remind me of stockphotography:S

those surf shots are cool too, I dig them. nuthin goes beyond that good old boardmentality.

MexiKana, you have absolutely nothing to be shamed about. If your shots tell me anything, is that you handle lighting very well. especially direct lighting nice and razorsharp images.
