"Physx" card

So.. what exactly are they?

I've heard they make games more realistic, but for near 100 GBP thats quite alot.
 
It's a dedicated physics card. It's pretty useless unless you want to play the games that require it (about 2 exist).

Dekstar, someone told me that UT3 used a physx card.. is that one of the 2? I assume something like Crysis is the other.
Hm perhaps they do, but I would have thought they don't add anything new, they just take strain off the CPU. If your computer can play UT3 on the highest settings with decent FPS, you won't get much gain from a dedicated card.
You might see a slightly higher gain in Crysis, but you'll still never be able to play it on the highest settings :p
 
Crysis doesn't use the Physx card as it actually hampers performance instead. I'll see if i can find that interview on why they don't like it.
 
Nvidia just bought out Ageia so most likely the physx card will just be mashed together with a graphics card from now on.
