pick up/throw with hands?

I did a search for pick up and throw and didnt find anything... (LOL, nah i just found wayyy too much so here goes)

after shmozys (soz if sp wrong) trip, i was wondering more about picking stuff up with hands.

What can u pick up?
What can you do with it?
What happens when thrown etc...
+anything else?

Probbally exactly the same as Deus Ex, before you get the manipulator and u see physics objects, ur gonna wanna be able to move and play with them, otherwise they become dorment and pointless.

You'll be able to pick up certain objects without the manipulator, but only small stuff I'd imagine

Walk up to an object, focus on it, right click (although in HL2 its probbally the use key) the object hovers just above the bottom of the screen, and then pressing mouse 1 (or whatever) propells the object outwards, mouse 2 probbally drops it where it is, it was tuned really nicely in DX2, one of its few really good features.

In games like doom3 and farcry the physics have felt a bit redundant cause you cant really interact with them, somthing as simple as being able to throw stuff creates hours of meaningless playtime, at least for me it would

Good luck picking up a barrel or radiator and throwing it 50m with your hands....jeeze, I really hope you were joking.

i loooooooooved this feature in deus ex . nothing like throwing trophies and boxes at guards, pissing them off

Maybe the hands system will be alot like splinter cell, where you have to hold the use key to pick it up, and there will be a guage to tell you where it will land

In Half-Life 1 you can move boxes and barrels by pushing them, i'm guessing you'll be able to pick them up to move them in Half-Life 2, or by pushing them. I read a post about these people's trip to Valve and he played Half-Life 2 and even said he threw stuff at Combine soldiers and they reacted. :bounce:
