Pictures taken of two military aircraft in area 51

Unfortunately, they're not radioactive UFO's with death-lasers.
They appear to be F-16 Falcons, a high-performance air-to-air/air-to-ground fighter.

Now I know that area 51 is an airforce base, so its not unusual for military aircraft to be there. It is, however, interesting to note that those planes and two helicopters are the only military aircraft visible, suggesting that most of the expirimental stuff there making there (if they're making expirimental stuff there at all) is being stored under-ground.

Also, there are several passenger planes in the area, meaning that workers are still being flown in and that the base is active. :O

Anyone else find something cool with Google Earth?

I was using google earth. Its a standalone app thats kinda like google maps except a million times better.

That's not Area 51. Area 51 is a strip and a hangar in the middle of the desert, consisting (we think) of underground facilities. That's Edwards AFB most likely.

i used to have it but when i found that the quality at the time (outside the US) was on a par with google maps i uninstalled it

I wouldn't say they're completely different, but yeah, a lot of people were saying it was Nellis when that LiverJournal about Area 51 was posted. Just zoomed around a bit in Google Earth, I'm sure they used to blur out the White house roof, but they don't any more.

I'm sure those planes are nothing special. Area51 absolutely has the time schedules for the satellites and they know exactly when they should move their things inside, and when it is safe to bring them out.

actually, that IS nellis airforce base.

nellis controls all the land in quite a large radius around its proper base. that is the groom lake test/other shit area. that isnt area 51. thats an f16, or maybe an f5. it could easily be used for training or just bombing the shit out of the desert.
