Most of you have probably heard of a mod called Pilotable Strider 0.2 and after playing around with this, i decided to check something out. Is there a way to make a Gunship pilotable? Im just wondering if the gunship is made through source physics (it uses the propulsion of air downwards to stay up in the air) or if it's just made as a program like planes in many other games such a Battlefield Vietnam. If it's made with Source physics, then it can probably be made into something one can pilot and go around playing the game in... or maybe some new maps.

Also, maybe because of the layout of the Gunship, it would be very hard to make it pilotable and trully controllable therefore maybe one would rather start experimenting with the Helicopter Gunship first.

You know, you could setup a part of the map away from the main map where you the player can stand looking at surfaces made to appear as monitors, and a camera attached to the front of the gunship, then use regular controls and triggers to move the gunship back and forth and so on (kinda making it nothing more than a controlable object)

"use" the door to leave the gunship "fake cockpit" and be teleported next to the gunship (making sure you landed first heh) then use the gunship to teleport back.

Done well it would look fine, be a bit of a bitch to control but then well yeah, makes it more fun :)

only problem being you can only see through one camera at a time, so only one gunship in any map, and it would have to use specially built maps.

Or do it the pilotable strider 0.2 method hehe

The first way you mentioned would really be bad and i think that it would take up about as much time as doing it the other way. My only problem is that i don't get how the strider was made in Pilotable Strider 0.2 so i cannot make the others in this way...

Help?

Anything can be made Pilotable, I will soon learn C++ programming. If it's a program it can be done.
