Wohwohwoh, put that lock away and get your finger off the ban button.

im not asking how to copy, where can i downlod, have you got a cd key etc... i am talking about a new copy protection system that codemasters use for race dirver 2.

the new system is called Starforce 3 Ver3.03.35.002. so far its uncrackable. this could be a big step againt piracy. the first un-crackable game. i own the game, and love it, i came across this because i like being able to just boot the game strait from the harddrive without looking for the cd/dvd. it also stops younger siblings scratching my disks when they wanna play (there bloody careless). people are going mad cause they cant get there pirate copys to work.

this could be a big step for the games industry

could we be looking at the first un-pirateable game?

i hope so, the money belongs in the hands of the people who make the software. i hope the same could be said for HL2 when it comes out.

Well, Metallica's St. Anger album was supposedely "uncrackable," within 2 weeks, it was cracked and on the internet

Give it a couple months. Someone will undoubtedly figure it out.

thats still a couple of months that a pirated version was not avalible, enticeing more people to buy it. even if it just buys time.

most games have a crack out within hours of its release.

Who wants to crack that piece of shit. ROFL!
And I say this as a Metallica fan myself. The old Metallica.

I liked 2 songs on the album, the rest were crap :D

Yea those new anti-piracy software on the games and stuff is really screwing up the installation process on some optical drives. If you read the fine print on UnrealTorney2004 it says that it may not be readable on some optical drives because of the software.

Woohoo for Pirates.. ARRRRRRrrr

Yeah... St. Anger was supposedly "good" until you got like 3 minutes into it or started hearing the beloved, "Fran-tic-tic-tic-tic-tic-tic-tic-tic-tic" a million damn times.

the only metallica track i have is st. anger (not the album) and i like it.

and tbh burnzie is right, even just 2 weeks w/o a crack will mean many pirate customers will go out and buy the game out of impatience.

Maybe that's why the installation freezes every f*cking time for me. Thanks, Epic.

have u actually tried the game then? i thought that only happened w/ the demo

Ah StarForce 3 is usless I just cracked my game Breed (I bought it I just hate the cd-checking) Breed used SarForce 3, I belive the principle was each disc had a unique code and hence when a disc was burned the burnt disc would have no code.

It's certainly a very nice thought that its the first uncrackable game. But you pretty much hear this every year. I remember back when Ocean took a big step and introduced the dongle as protection on their game Robocop III. A piece of hardware that plugged in the back of the computer and the game wont run without it (most legit app owners are more than familiar with dongles these days)

Unfortunately Ocean was convinced this would put a stop to piracy for good "Who would be able to emulate hardware??" they said.

They ended up being very wrong. Not only was Robocop III cracked, it was cracked and distributed weeks before the game was officially available.

So yeah, its great to think this time round something is uncrackable, but the harder it is, the more people are going to try.

The only real way to avoid having your app or game cracked is by not being popular enough for anyone to want it :(

Actually, I had that problem with UT 2003. I find it's todo with heat.. Well, I have a new drive now :E

Oh well I certainly wont pirate games, they deserve my money. Music however...... thats a different story.

Game Pirates bring prices down. So aslong as the police/goverment/important ppl don't see my cd racks I'm fine.

It goes both ways I suppose.

A. Pirating continues thus developers (may) chose to lower prices because if prices are low enough people won't need to pirate thus they make more money even with lowers prices becuase more ppl buy it.

B. Pirating stops and devlopers breath a sigh of relief they can finnaly charge acceptable profit prices.

Mind you Breed cost me $100 australian dollars, and thats alot of money.

wtf?! you buy a gold plated version or something? that's crazy.

Pc games in Australia cost $90-$100.

Our dollar is worth less than other countries. A good example is $1 aussie dollar = 70 american cents

Yeah, three times with three different demos. i doubt it'll be any different witht he full game. Anybody care to lend me their copy to try it out? ;)
