Updates across multiple platforms on Steam have just been released. More importantly, to those who aren't the "elite CS players that think they own the community," the Counter-Strike: Source Dynamic Weapons Pricing beta has been released to those who wish to try it. More information on this system can be found here.
Source Engine
  • Exclude .lua files from being downloaded by clients
  • Exclude the addons/, gamemods/ and lua/ from having files inside of them downloaded to clients (Garry's MOD support)
  • Optimization for dedicated server and SourceTV relays
Also, updates to SourceTV has been pumped through the Steam piplines.[br]For the complete changelog of tonight's update, head on over to the Steam website. As per usual, restart your Steam client to receive the updates.[br]D'oh! Incase you want to run the weapons pricing beta on your server, you need to do some special hacking to get it to work!
We have released a special beta of Counter-Strike: Source for the new
dynamic weapon pricing feature. If you want to try out this new
functionality on your server then run the hldsupdatetool with
"cstrike_beta" as the game parameter, for example:[br]Win32:
./hldsupdatetool -command update -game cstrike_beta -dir .[br]Linux:
./steam -command update -game cstrike_beta -dir .

Sweat. Going to try it out later.

Awesome, hopefully I can find a server with the changes applied to it :)

I wonder how this will effect competetive play. I mean, if this option is enabled, clans and other groups will really have to think on the fly and can't have set-strategies (could be a good thing), but then when you play some other group a week later, all of the prices has changed... Could make things unbalanced.

Then again, if competetive community turns off dynamic pricing for their servers, then why would clan members want to practice in an environment they won't play in, and thus they will disable the dynamic server pricing and there will be less people running it.

I'm curious to see how this will play it.

I resent the elite cs player comment. "If you don't agree, YOU'RE WRONG!" is basically what you're saying. Competitive gameplay is a little different than pubbing it. I don't mind doing this in a pub, but in a scrim/match it would be ridiculous. So I'm glad it's removable for leagues and stuff.

HOLY DAMN look at the projected deagle price.
http://steampowered.com/stats/csmarket/
$1524

And I can't find a single server running the beta. Not even with game-monitor.com.

Edit: oh you have to install the new css beta in the games menu. It's only 10mb.

There are servers running. You need to run the Css Beta (it's marked uninstalled in the games tab). Then use the ingame server browser.

the eagles price is completly stupid, but who didnt see that comming. There should be some form of caps. Its early days, hopefully it stabalises.

Nice to see the goggles have dropped in price. who would have thought. Mac 10's getting close to being a 1st round weapon too.

The LUA update things are leading up to the release of Gmod 10.

I reckon it's safe to say it here... "About time too."

Everyone will see how stupid this money update will be in a few weeks and take it off the pub servers.

I love the changes.

Makes the game sooooo much more interesting and competitive.

It's bliss.
