I was wondering if anyone had this same problem and knew how to fix it:
It seems like right after I installed the newest divx from divx.com or wherever, it makes my avi's(or maybe some others too, but I think just certain avis) go slow and choppy. Had anyone experienced this? The videos work fine when I use the divx player, but it goes slow as poo with windows media player.

Have you installed a codec pack? Personnaly I only install the DivX codec from their Web site and the XVid codecs. I use WMP to play all my movies and when it needs another codec it is downloaded automaticly. It plays very well ( Athlon XP 2000+ ). Other people will probably tell you that you should defragment you hard drive... ( It is an option but I don't think it will improve performances much). Run a spyware killer software like Ad-Aware and look in your processes if there are no useless programs running in the background. DivX can be a little cpu intensive so if you have other apps running at the same time it will be choppy on an average computer. WMP is also ressources intensive but since I don't want to install several players to play movies I think it is a good player. Anyway I switched to linux ... so, no divx and GAIN to install!!! hehe :)
